1. Bangladesh is not a superpower, a land of milk and honey or a paradise on earth. It is a country with many issues but also a country with lots of simple, happy people in it which is progressing rapidly.

2. I appreciate Toramana posting articles like this because there is a Pakistani propaganda attempt (on hate sites like the notorious defence.pk) to portray Bangladesh as a failed state run by India (yeah right, Bangladesh is the 2nd biggest purchaser of Chinese arms and is very close to China). The purpose of this propaganda campaign is not only to vilify India and sabotage any Indo-Bangladeshi regional ties and trade (thus damaging the 150 million people of Bangladesh from having an opportunity to remove themselves from poverty due to a well-connected region) but also to give the message that Bangladeshi independence was a mistake and that Bangladesh is a failure.

That is of course nonsense in so many ways and economically the country has progressed tremendously since defeating Pakistan in 1971.

This article says that Hasina is talking about Bangladesh having a "counter-attack capability", a Bangladeshi military forum is speculating that it might be a hint at nuclear weapons.

I personally doubt it but wouldn't rule it out.
