  • Aliyasbek Alymkulov: Tajikistan violates rights of ethnic Kyrgyz

28/04/14 09:01, Bishkek – 24.kg news agency, by Aizada KUTUEVA
"The rights of ethnic Kyrgyz are violated in Tajikistan," the Minister of Labour, Migration and Youth Aliyasbek Alymkulov stated today at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs.

According to him, the policy of the neighboring state is not conducive to the support of ethnic Kyrgyz. "Their rights are not taken into consideration at all. If a person does not know the Tajik language, he has no future in this country. This is a direct oppression of ethnic Kyrgyz. In this regard, there is an increasing number of those who want to return to their historic homeland," Aliyasbek Alymkulov said.

The leaders of ethnic Kyrgyz, who arrived in Bishkek, confirmed the findings, noting that a lot of ethnic Kyrgyz reside in Jirgital district of Tajikistan. "But in 2013 all names of streets, schools and other facilities are renamed from Kyrgyz to Tajik language. Teachers in schools have to write notes only in Tajik and teach children in state language. We are dissatisfied with this policy, so we want to return to Kyrgyzstan. We ask for state support," they added.
