The police have arrested an Ethiopian maid for murdering a Saudi woman in a rural district in Taif on Thursday.
The African woman in her thirties hacked her employer, who was in her fifties, to death with an axe while she was praying the noon prayer at her house in Maisan, 130 km south of Taif, said Lt. Col. Ati Al-Qarshi, police spokesman in Makkah.
“After receiving the report about the murder, the Maisan police rushed to the location and found the lifeless body of the Saudi woman lying in a pool of blood on a prayer mat," said Al-Qarshi.
They arrested the maid, who admitted committing the murder, and found SR7,000 in her possession. The Saudi women’s room had been ransacked.
A source said the Saudi woman, Umm Saad, was always kind and considerate to the maid, with some friends believing she pampered her.
The maid had been employed for the past 18 months, the source said.
According to another source, Umm Saad was sleeping in her room when she was attacked.
The victim’s husband works in an education office southeast of Taif, a local daily reported.
During the week, two African women committed suicide in the country.

This is really bad obviously, but usually in these cases maids/servants are abused by their employers. The biggest problem with saudi arabia is that these people have no rights, their passports are taken away by the employers, so basically these maids/servants become their slaves for life. I wonder if they are paid some money or not, because myself, I have seen these people look so depressed, when working in Saudi homes. So many of them commit suicide, that Saudi media never ever reports

There is still a huge slave industry in Saudi Arabia still, which the world doesn't focus at.

        1. The Arab News is a Saudi propaganda publication owned by the Al-Saud tribe.

        2.

A source said the Saudi woman, Umm Saad, was always kind and considerate to the maid, with some friends believing she pampered her.
Whilst we must be sad at the death of the Saudi lady as she is a Muslimah and a human being we must also be aware that the Arab News is trying to portray the Saudi citizen here in a positive light. If we were to follow their logic the Saudi woman was a wonderful angel and was murdered by the Ethiopian lady for no reason.

The truth is as "Karachi" said, maids are essentially slaves and are often treated in a very brutal way by the Saudis sometimes even raped nearly every day.

The Ethiopian maid may have been the victim of long term abuse and then finally exploded.

        3. The Saudi regime need to:

a: Address the plight of foreign workers in the country abused by local Saudis.

b: Abolish or reorganize the Kafala system.

        4. The death of the Saudi lady however is also a cause for sadness and a tragedy.

RAPED NEARLY EVERY DAY!!! Yet you maintain that, "The death of the Saudi lady however is also a cause for sadness and a tragedy" and even further that "we must be sad at the death of the Saudi lady as she is a Muslimah"?!? Assuming that the maid was being subjected to the typical barbarity and human exploitation dealt out by these creatures, I'd love to personally present her with an award for triumph in the face of evil! She effectively removed a link in the chain of brutal human oppression. Meanwhile, according to the doctrine of some religion, it's adherents are OBLIGATED (i.e. this means pretend) to feel sad at her removal from the earth. Is this real life?

Let me educate you my "friend" (before I place you on ignore).

            1. What took place was what we call an "extra-judicial homicide".

a: It was not sanctioned by the law or an execution.
            b: It was a killing.

            2. Domestic abuse of servants even in the US or Finland does not carry the death sentence.

            3. You are celebrating the death of a Saudi female because:

            a - She is Muslim
            b - She is brown

Whereas if she was white American/European you would say things such as "domestic abuse does not mean someone should be executed"

or "we cannot comment on this case as we don't know the facts"

or "people should never take the law in to their own hands"

or "how can you celebrate the death of this woman, though there may have been something going on, she was still a human being"

or "how can you display happiness over a woman's death, imagine what her family must be going through now"

However Islamophobic Muslim-haters like you will express indignation and anger if white westerners are treated like this but it's fine to celebrate the death of a brown Muslim, because she is "inferior".

            4. The murdered woman almost certainly has children (that's the way Saudi society is and another reason for a maid). How will her children be feeling?

            5. My comment about the widespread occurrence of sexual abuse in Saudi Arabia does not mean the murdered woman carried out any form of sexual abuse towards the maid.

If you made such an outrageous comment as you have done towards the murdered Saudi woman, to a white western woman in a western society and you were a public figure there would be outrage and you would have to resign or suffer a lot professionally and career wise.

Now to the neutral observer, one who is not an Islamophobic Muslim-hating racist, it would be quite clear that it is me who has

a: raised the issue of Saudi abuse of foreign workers in this thread
b: Condemned it and called for the Saudi regime to do things about it.
c: Has said it is highly unlikely the Ethiopian maid just killed the lady for no reason.

In other words I am far from a defender of Saudis but quite concerned about the rights of foreign workers. However I cannot condone murdering people or celebrate their deaths unlike you.

However since you hate Islam and Muslims you are angry that I have displayed a responsible and mature attitude towards the death of another person, particularly since I mention she's a Muslim. In fact I would do this regardless of the person's religion, as you cannot go around killing people.

            Bye.

You are now placed on ignore.

For everyone else, just to highlight even further what I am trying to say here is an imaginary conversation between Barack Obama and a right-wing Republican (Teabagger):

              Obama = Obama, RR = Right-wing Republican.

              Obama: Hello

RR: I am not going to say "hello" to you as you are an undercover communist and Muslim trying to destroy America and has taken my country away from me.

              Obama: Ermm....

RR: Anyway I'm really happy, a Mexican domestic servant killed Sarah Palin, who wasn't right-wing enough for my liking.

Obama: I am very surprised and disappointed by your happiness at this news, this is the death of a fellow human being of yours.

              This is a tragedy.

RR: Well Hillary was abusing this domestic servant for years. You should be happy at this news!

Obama: I cannot condone the murder of any citizen and nor am I aware of the facts regarding this case. I find it wholly inappropriate and totally uncivilized to celebrate the death of someone.

RR: She had been abusing her servant.

Obama: I cannot say she did such a thing but in general terms if domestic abuse is carried out it does not justify murder.

RR: Oooooh you evil Wahabi communist terrorist!!

you don't kill someone that you intend to steal from with an axe. that is such an irrational thing to do and that too for such small amount of money.. killing someone with an axe is the sort of thing you do out of rage. she was probably being mistreated over time and suddenly provoked. of course that doesn't justify the fact that she murdered someone but don't fall for that the saudi woman was "kind" and "considerate". how convenient to her case in this situation. and if she was kind enough to "pamper" her, i am sure the maid could have managed to get the money from her by manipulation rather than murdering her.

Over a third of what this genius writes is under the assumption that I acknowledge, give relevance to and respect the laws of Finland, USA, etc. Another portion is a small serving of the traditional 'victim role' conveniently and often employed by the adherents of Abrahamic religions when someone from outside their inner circle (i.e. any non-Christian/Muslim/Jew) critiques someone who shares their religion. They immediately reach a conclusion steeped in a self-perpetuated delusion that the criticism put forth by the perceived 'outsider' is unjustified, unwarranted and is solely the result of hostility towards the individual's religion which in reality may not be the case at all and of course is not the case here.

Nonetheless, I commend Tiger's efforts. And if Tiger ever removes me from ignore and returns to view this thread, allow me to make a few points in a similar fashion to yours...
                  * I couldn't give a crap less whether or not domestic abuse of servants in Finland, USA or the planet Mars carries the death sentence. Sidenote: The mere concept of a "servant" is a sick, corrupt and exploitative tradition of humanity that should cease to exist in every known capacity.

                  * I am not actually celebrating the death of the woman, nor do I care whether she's "brown", green or black. Her status as an alleged Muslim is wholly irrelevant in this particular case. The statement I made were under the assumption that this woman was involved in heinous crimes against humanity such as rape among probably many other crimes due to the unusually high number of such cases reported in the Gulf. If the woman had knowledge of such atrocities and did not effectively act to end them she becomes a willing accomplice by default (regardless of race, ethnic group, national origin, sexual preference or religion).

                  * You may condemn the Saudi regime but in what ways are you calling for them to "do something about" this rampant cycle of exploitation and abuse? Have you spoken with the top jiggalo himself or any of his government underlings about this issue? And if so, how effective do you feel his response will be within the paradigm of Saudi society?

                  * This is boring, I think I'll have a donut...
