  • Chinese city, spot the difference

I got this from a Bangladeshi forum.

There is a Chinese city called Shenzhen. This is what it looked like in 1981.

    ...and now

You have to hand it to the east Asians e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Koreans they really know how to run their economies and to develop.

looks impresive, India should take notes on how to organize a nation who has a population of billion and plus people.

The whole point being made in that forum was that Dhaka is 400 years old and a mess, whereas the Chinese have made an amazing city in 30 years!

Personally I think the east Asians are far more organized than south Asians. I don't know why but they just are it seems.

All this is built on the exploitation of the cheap workers who have had to work in abhorent conditions. I guess somebody had to be sacrificed to make such rapid growth happen.

Epic, the last picture looks a lot like New York city. There is a photo on the net of dubai in the 1970's which was an empty desert compared to it in 2003.

          I believe its this one;

"Revenge is a dish best served cold".

          -Old Pashtun proverb

"My Pashtun Pride i will not hide!"

I think is due that east asian countries are most of the time quite homogeneous, I mean in one cuntry there is always one big major ethnicity with littel devercity. I know in China are a lot of ethnic groups but still the majority is is just Han chinees who established one culture. And that makes it more easier to organize themselfs....

                Bangladesh is

                1. More homogenous than China. The term "Han" is actually a term used to describe a number of different races that even speak mutually unintelligible languages i.e. the difference between "Han" races is greater than that of Tajiks and Pashtuns.

In Bangladesh, practically everyone is Muslim Bengali i.e. 90%

                2. The Japanese had more geographical problems than Bangladesh e.g. Japan is 4 big islands separated by the sea and other islands.

Bangladesh is one small compact-land mass.

                3. The South Koreans have built up their capital Seoul within artillery range of north Korea, Seoul where 1/3 of S Koreans live is very close to the North Korean border and can be flattened within an hour of any war.

Despite this their capital (1/3 of their population) is developed, Bangladesh faces no such challenges.

India is heterogenous, yes but northern Indians are actually more heterogenous (linguistically than the "Han").

Though I may come across as a "nationalist", I actually dislike many things about Bangladesh and Bangladeshi people, but there's no point in telling it here. I just try to show the other side to the dominant perception of Bangladesh as nothing but poverty (this is the same in terms of what I do in terms of posting positive news from Afghanistan). I believe east Asians have clearly shown that in the past century they have had superior organizational skills and economic abilities to south Asians.

India has never been as isolated as communist China has. China only opened up recently to the world and now it is far, far ahead of India.

Afghans have the ability to develop their country to Iran-like standards and then to the standards of other countries in Asia e.g. Malaysia, especially as you are more resource rich than Japan. However we know one of the key reasons why......(certain "external" factors).
