Football star Lionel Messi’s look-alike lives in Afghanistan

A young Afghan man in western Herat province of Afghanistan who looks like the Argentinean football star Lionel Messi, recently sparked rumors regarding Messi’s conversion to Islam.

Rumors regarding Messi’s conversion to Islam became wide-spreading; specifically on social media websites after an Afghan doctor uploaded the photo of 26-year-old Abdul Karim who has a similar face as Lionel Messi. (Photo credit BBC Persian)
Abdul Karim was born in western Herat province of Afghanistan during the month of June, which is similar to Lionel Messi’s birthday.
Despite Abdul Karim’s height is 3 centimeters longer than the Argentinean football star, his body type, faces and skin color is identical as Lionel Messi.
He is currently teaching Geography in a preliminary school where he is famous as Master Messi, according to a BBC report.
Abdul Karim is also a member of a local football club in western Herat province of Afghanistan and is a fan of Barcelona football club.
There are mixed reactions regarding Abdul Karim’s look alike as Lionel Messi in western Herat province of Afghanistan, where he is supported by fans of Messi, however he receives adverse reaction from those who are not happy with Messi.
He is a regular viewer of La Liga since he is a fan of Messi and his team, and it is one of his ambitions to meet with Lionel Messi.

Can somebody translate what the guy says

Nothing major except that Ronaldo was involved in a EU linked humanitarian event to raise 100,000 Euros for Afghanistan.

"Ittihad al Eurobee" = European Union, "musaida" = help, "insaani" = humanitarian etc etc.


To be honest I thought the guy was arrogant (though I also knew I did not know him as a person so could not pass any judgements) but yes, respect for some of the things he's done.

I watched a youtube video where Ronaldo said he was considering converting to islam and how we will "think about it."

Also to that picture, one might think that is completely photoshopped. The resemblance is outstanding!
