  • Malayasian plane still missing

The plane is still missing after 5 days. In recent history nothing has happend like this, what are your theories?

Now the Malaysian government has asked Indian government to join in the search to search in the Andaman sea, most likely they think the plane might have gone west wards towards India, even possibly bay of Bengal or Indian Ocean

This is really an enigma! One theory is of terrorism as two passengers had stolen passports.

A very tragic and interesting case. I would love to know opinions of others or may share news on developments in this thread.

i check on the updates five times an hour unless i am asleep. forget the old theory, now they are saying it didn't explode in the air, it disappeared from the radar and even if it had been hijacked or forced to shut off it's communication systems, it should have still appeared on the military radars.. and that it's probably because the government used some kind of experimental weapon to make it disappear.
i don't know about the families, but i swear if they don't find it soon, i will go crazy.

        I know exactly what happened,

the plane crashed off course and the passengers are now stranded on an island (see Lost the tv show)

this is so crazy. How do you completely lose all traces of an airplane? The only plausible idea would be that the plane was landed in a disclosed area (maybe a small island) but even with that so many questions arise. Who would have done it? What benefit is it to them? Why didn't the pilot call for emergency? etc.
If it had crashed then the pilot would have called mayday unless the system just shut down. But even in that case, they would have found at least something by now. 6 days is a long time

Malaysian airliner kept sending signals after disappearing

A Malaysia Airlines plane sent signals to a satellite for four hours after the aircraft went missing, an indication that it was still flying for hundreds of kilometres or more, a U.S. official briefed on the search said Thursday.
Six days after the plane with 239 people aboard disappeared, Malaysian authorities expanded their search westward toward India, saying the aircraft may have flown for several hours after its last contact with the ground shortly after takeoff from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing.

A string of previous clues about Flight MH370 have led nowhere.
“This situation is unprecedented. MH370 went completely silent over the open ocean,” said Malaysia’s acting transport minister Hishammuddin Hussein. “This is a crisis situation. It is a very complex operation, and it is not obviously easy. We are devoting all our energies to the task at hand.”
The U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to discuss the situation by name, said the Boeing 777-200 wasn’t transmitting data to the satellite, but was instead sending out a signal to establish contact.
Boeing offers a satellite service that can receive a stream of data during flight on how the aircraft is functioning and relay the information to the plane’s home base. The idea is to provide information before the plane lands on whether maintenance work or repairs are needed. Malaysia Airlines didn’t subscribe to that service, but the plane still had the capability to connect with the satellite and was automatically sending pings, the official said.
“It’s like when your cellphone is off but it still sends out a little ‘I’m here’ message to the cellphone network,” the official said. “That’s how sometimes they can triangulate your position even though you’re not calling because the phone every so often sends out a little bleep. That’s sort of what this thing was doing.”
The plane had enough fuel to fly about four more hours, the U.S. official said.
Messages involving a different, more rudimentary data service also were received from the airliner for a short time after the plane’s transponder – a device used to identify the plane to radar – went silent, the official said.
If the plane had disintegrated during flight or had suffered some other catastrophic failure, all signals – the pings to the satellite, the data messages and the transponder – would be expected to stop at the same time.
One part of the hunt is in the South China Sea, where the aircraft was seen on civilian radar flying northeast before vanishing without any indication of technical problems. A similar-sized search is also being conducted in the Strait of Malacca because of military radar sightings that might indicate the plane turned in that direction after its last contact, passing over the Malay Peninsula.
The total search area being covered is about 92,600 square kilometres – about the size of Portugal.
“Because of new information, we may be part of an effort to open a new search area in the Indian Ocean,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said earlier Thursday.
In the latest disappointment, search planes failed to find any debris from the plane after they were sent Thursday to an area of the South China Sea off the southern tip of Vietnam, where satellite images published on a Chinese government website reportedly showed three suspected floating objects.

large aircraft just can't land on an island lol they can't land on anything that isn't very long and very flat.

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 deliberately flown towards India’s Andaman Islands: military radar

MALAYSIA Airlines Flight MH370 was deliberately flown across Malaysia towards the Andaman Islands, military radar-tracking reportedly suggests.
Two sources told Reuters that an unidentified aircraft that is believed to be Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was following a route between navigational waypoints — indicating it was being flown by someone with aviation training — when it was last plotted on military radar off Malaysia’s northwest coast.
The military radar’s tracking system last plotted the unidentified plane heading towards India’s Andaman Islands, a chain of isles between the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
Waypoints are geographic locations, found by calculating longitude and latitude, that help pilots navigate along established air corridors.
A third source familiar with the investigation told Reuters inquiries were focusing increasingly on the theory that someone who knew how to fly a plane deliberately diverted the flight, with 239 people on board, hundreds of kilometres off its intended course from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
“What we can say is we are looking at sabotage, with hijack still on the cards,” said that source, a senior Malaysian police official.
All three sources declined to be identified because they were not authorised to speak to the media and due to the sensitivity of the investigation.
As a result of the new evidence, the sources said, multinational search efforts were being stepped up in the Andaman Sea and also the Indian Ocean

US investigators are convinced the communication systems on flight MH370 were shut down by someone on board and have satellite data showing the missing plane flew on for up to five hours after it disappeared.
Intermittent data “pings” from the missing Malaysia Airlines jet reportedly gave its location, speed and altitude for an extended period after it vanished from civilian radar screens, with the last transmission putting the plane over water at a “normal” cruising altitude.
MALAYSIA CONFIRMS JET SEARCH AREA EXPANDED
Malaysia has confirmed that the search for MH370 has been expanded into the Indian Ocean, but has declined to comment on US reports that the jet had flown for hours after going missing.
“The aircraft is still missing, and the search area is expanding,’’ Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said.
“Together with our international partners, we are pushing further east into the South China Sea and further into the Indian Ocean,’’ he added.
He confirmed the extended zone included the Andaman Sea.
Vietnam has downgraded its search from “emergency to regular” as the hunt shifts to the Indian Ocean and away from the South China Sea.
Stressing that he could offer no new information on what happened to Flight MH370, Hishammuddin refused to address US media reports, citing unidentified US officials, that the Boeing 777 had flown for an additional four or five hours after vanishing from civilian radar.
“We do not want to be drawn into specific remarks that unnamed officials have reportedly made in the media,’’ he said.
The US reports were based on information that the plane’s communication system continued to “ping” a satellite for up to four hours after it disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
A US Navy official said the destroyer USS Kidd was being sent to the Indian Ocean - on the opposite side of the Malaysian peninsula from where contact was lost - to investigate.
But Hishammuddin insisted that the main reason for widening the search field was the failure to locate the plane in the areas searched so far.
“A normal investigation becomes narrower with time,’’ he said.
“But this is not a normal investigation. In this case, the information we have forces us to look further and further afield.’’
Mr Hussein said that authorities are not 100 per cent on the military’s claim that the plane turned around. He said he cannot rule out hijacking.
In response to the report the plane’s transponder was turned off deliberately, he said there are four to five possibilities being explored.
The Transport Minister said authorities were looking at all possibilities, including the possible involvement of crew or pilots.
In another new development Chinese researchers detected a “sea floor event” near the waters between Malaysia and Vietnam, about an hour and 30 minutes after flight MH370 was last detected by civilian radar on Saturday, Xinhua News reported late this afternoon.
The area, 116km northeast from where the last contact with the Boeing plane was recorded, used to be a non-seismic region, according to a University of Science and Technology of China research group on seismology and physics, and could have been caused by the plane plunging into the ocean.

maybe the plane was still on the radar but they didn't notice it because someone changed or renamed the data that it was known by in the system. or maybe it landed on one of those huge ships and then transfered in to one of underground submarines that already has a reason for being on the radar.
