    Pakistan's talks with the Taliban

    The Pakistani regime seems to be heading for talks with the Taliban or the TTP.

    Do you think these talks will provide some sort of "solution" even if it is handing over power to the TTP in certain areas of Pakhtunkhwa?

    Or do you think these talks will come to nothing and the Pakistan army will launch an all out offensive and campaign against the TTP in FATA?

    Please share your opinions.

    I am not going to vote but will wait for the experts (I am not an expert) like Smarty, Gadoonwal and others have to say about this.

    However this is what I think could happen.

    1. The talks "succeed" and the Pakistani regime hands over FATA to the control of the brutal TTP.

    In this scenario sooner or later, years or a decade after the TTP and other militants will eventually want to expand their control and take over other parts of "Pakistan".

    2. The talks will fail and there will be an all out war between the army and the TTP.

    The decade long war may have a decisive conclusion. What that is, who knows.

    The TTP may be defeated as Algeria defeated its Wahabi rebels, or it may even see the TTP capturing Islamabad itself and the destruction of Pakistan itself.

    I am waiting to see what others think about this.

    We may (or may not) finally be heading towards a conclusion to this war.

      It looks like there will be no talks and possibly the final battle of this war.

      It looks like the Pakistan army is going to attack Waziristan. Here are some possibilities.

      a: They will win and defeat the Taliban, as in Swat.

      b: They will lose and the Taliban may even try to launch an offensive to take Islamabad.

      c: Something else.



      PESHAWAR -The government authorities have decided in principle to launch the offensive against terrorists in North Waziristan, a private news channel reported on Monday.


      Army has been asked to be prepared for any action that may be directed.


      Sources cited government authorities as saying that every possible step will be taken to ensure peace ranging from launching air offensive to surgical strikes to eliminate terrorists from the region.


      They said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had also directed that no compromise be made on national security.

        To me talks are just started for gaining time and re-grouping.Talks and violence dont go together.Taliban have not stopped their activities.
