  • Mayor of Texan city declares February 5th 'Shahid Afridi day'

The mayor of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, Deloris “Bobbie” Prince, has declared February 5, 2014 “Shahid Khan Afridi Day”.
Anjum Tahirkheli, chair to the Afridi Foundation, tweeted that Shahid Afridi was also honoured by being given the keys to the City of Port Arthur, Texas.

Afridi is currently in the US on the Islamic Circle of North America’s (ICNA) invitation. He will be visiting New York, New Jersey and Florida on February 7, 8 and 9, he said in an ICNA video.
The ICNA has also organised a cricket camp in New Jersey.
However, before hitting New York, Afridi visited Louisiana and Texas, where he is also fundraising for his Shahid Afridi Foundation.

Me neither, but I guess it's cause of his charitable work and he's currently in America to raise funds for the hospital he's constructing in FATA.

There's also a really strong Pakistani lobby in Texas, the mayor of Paris,Texas is a Pakistani and in Houston there's a place called Jinnah district, so the Paki lobby made it happen.

There's a really big Pakistani community in Port Arthur,Texas.

But what is the connection of shahid Afridi with the ICNA? Is he also a religious bigot? ICNA is very conservative, holding sepaarte sessions of rmen and women.

I have heard that funds raised by ICNA are used by fundamentalist groups of Pakistan like Jamate Islami. Even some funds reach Taliban. I prefer ISNA to ICNA.

Shahid Afridi is from Jamaat Tableegh. He visited our markaz in UK several years ago.
