*This is nothing major as there are fishing disputes all over the world. The Sri Lankans actually kill Indian (Tamil, so less important to northern Indian run India) fishermen. More peaceful and relaxed Bangladeshis just detain them.
On a more important note though both India and Bangladesh have gone to international arbitration over demarcating maritime borders in the bay of Bengal, which has trillions of cubic feet of gas.
Pakistan - through its proxies such as Jamaat - is preventing the normalization of Bangladeshi-India trading relations as it wants to hurt India, thus Jamaatis label any attempt to normalize trade with India as "treachery", "sell out" etc.
New Delhi governments do however have a condescending and dishonest attitude to Bangladesh, however nothing which cannot be resolved through sincere and honest dialogue. Resolution of these problems and normalization of Indian-Bangladeshi trade relations is something that Pakistan is working hard against including the use of the radical Jamaat e Islami.
Pakistan also pursues similiar policies of keeping Afghanistan weak and unstable.
