Today is the 42nd anniversary of Bangladeshi victory day, when Bangladesh was liberated from Pakistan and the Pakistanis surrendered.

However Balochis are still being oppressed in Pakistan.

    Will Balochis ever gain freedom?

    Please share your thoughts.

    Thank you.

In the past few years we have seen a number of countries gain their freedom and independence, e.g. South Sudan, East Timor and Kosova amongst others.

    South Sudan.

    Kosova.

Will Balochistan follow the example of these two countries and also gain its freedom?

Last year the then prime minister of the federation of Pakistan, Gilani, spoke of organizing a referendum in Balochistan on the independence issue.

The "nuclear" state which is Pakistan has still not defeated the two insurgencies in the country i.e.

    1: Taliban rebellion

    2: Balochi rebellion

Do you think that Balochis, like the Kosovars and South Sudanese will gain independence?

At the moment I will not say yes or no, but all I will say that independence from Pakistan is in my minds something quite possible, who knows if it will ever happen.

If Balochistan does become independent then in my opinion, the idea of "Pakistan" ceases to exist i.e. the country will still exist but it will not be the original Pakistan that it was, the independence of Bangladesh does not mean anything because it was 1,600 miles away and Pakistanis did not care about it or consider Bengalis as Pakistanis anyway. However Balochistan is right next door and many Punjabis are even Balochi in origin.

Also on a very practical level, physically the map of Pakistan would look totally different with 44% of its territory gone (if the Pashtun areas go with Balochistan i.e. they chose not to be part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

I think Balochis will accept if not actively welcome good relations with Afghanistan or any future Pashtun state in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but they won't exchange rule by Islamabad for rule from Kabul or Pekhawar.

Who exactly is oppressing them? Evil Punjabis from Central and North Punjab?

Thanks for your concerns about the hardships of Pakistani Baloch, Bengali bro. What about the situation of Biharis in your tolerant and independent country?

Bengal_Cat has banned me but this is an open discussion forum,

so I am going to give my 2 cents:

I do not think Baluchistan will be able to gain independence from

Pakistan, not now, not in 5,10 or even 20 years, it might take at

least half century or longer, I'm not saying this as a Pakistani but

from an analytical point of view.

Baluchistan and Bangladesh can't be compared, because

Baluchistan is right next to Pakistan whereas Bangladesh was

over 1000 kms away, and India was inbetween whereas

Baluchistan does not share a border with India, and Iran will

never let it's Baluchistan seccede so it wants the status quo to

            stay.

Pakistan is now a nuclear power, and it's military has gotten

stronger since '71, the only way Baluchistan can gain

independence is if it gets help from NATO and India, and I find

that unlikely because Turkey is a member of NATO and a

            Pakistani ally.

China also has a port in Gwadar, so it doesn't want Baluchistan to

secede, China is also MUCH stronger now than it was in '71, so it

            has more influence now.

Another major difference between Bangladesh and Baluchistan,

is that there are only 8 million Baloch ppl in Pakistan compared to

East Pakistan that had more than half of Pakistan's population.

The only way Baluchistan can gain independence is if it has a

referendum and there's no guarantee that they would win the

            referendum.

            That was my analysis.

            of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)."

The Northern parts of Baluchistan are gonna turned into a

separate province called Lower Pakhtunkhwa in the near future,

so Baloch territory is only Kalat and the southern parts.

Gwadar can not be part of an azaad baluchistan because

            Pakistan owns Gwadar.

Gwadar was part of the Omani sultanate before Pakistan bought

it in the 50s, so Pakistan owns Gwadar like America owns Alaska

The "nuclear" state which is Pakistan has still not

defeated the two insurgencies in the country i.e.

            1: Taliban rebellion

            2: Balochi rebellion
That is dumb logic, because you can't destroy an insurgency with

nukes, the only way Pakistan can end the Baloch insurgency is if

it improves the standard of living of Baloch people, integrate

them in the mainstream and stop India's infiltration in

            Baluchistan.

All of that is possible, not sure if Nawaza is interested though.

Good question. I will leave that to the actual Balochis of this forum such as M17ArnoBaloch and Friends of Baloch to help satisfy your sincere and genuine curiousity about the situation of Balochis in the land of progress, tolerance and joy known as "Pakistan" ("land of the pure").

Thanks for your concerns about the hardships of Pakistani Baloch, Bengali bro. What about the situation of Biharis in your tolerant and independent country?
That is a good question but is a different subject and not related to Baloch issues, so please feel free to ask me that in a thread related to Bihari issues and I will attempt to answer you.

              On topic:

              1. Please do not quote racist Punjabi (Lahore raised, thus a Punjabi) "EvilPakistani" as he has openly supported war crimes in the then east Pakistan against the then unarmed Pakistani civilians (ethnically Bengali but still Pakistani citizens) by general Tikka Khan whose atrocities even shocked the brutal general Niazi.

I have placed this thug and supporter of war crimes on ignore, and do not wish to read his filth.

              2. Whatever one likes to say about the Balochistan crisis including Pakistani nationalists one thing is clear, there has been no solution. No political deal.

The province is still in turmoil.

This is a reality that Pakistani nationalists cannot ignore and something which they must find a solution to, if not then Balochistan like:

              - South Sudan
              - East Timor
              - Kosova
              - Bangladesh

              might become an independent country.

Lmao, you keep refering to me as a "Punjabi", eventhough i'm not, you claim I was raised there?I only lived in Lahore for a mere 2 years, that isn't "raised" , i was raised in america but you are really immature cause all you do is comment on my personal life because your arguments are weak and fall against me like a house of cards.

You condone the massacres the Mukhti Bahini committed against Biharis and non-Bengali speakers during 1971 and even before that, Bengali nationalists were persecuting non-Bengali speakers since the 50s, i never condoned the war crimes the Pak army committed but both sides made grave mistakes

Since1947 :This fishkhor is oblivious about the atrocities his people have committed, he hates non-Bengalis,supports the discrimination towards Biharis and he even supports India's genocidal war crimes in Kashmir.

He has an obsession with Pakistan even thought his country is 1600 kms away, but for some weird reason he's obsessed about Pakistan, he needs to get a life, his country has FAR more problems than worrying about Pakistan or Baluchistan or even Afghanistan.

Honestly, i would love to see balochistan gain independence, but i don't see it happening. You see, Balochis don't have a strong leader to lead them to independence. Most of them protest in packs and and their only independence fight is by baloch insurgents. They need to pick a strong leader to to protest and go on a march. I think balochis should reunite with pashtuns in afghanistan as they are both the same people, have the same culture and live on the same land. What's the point of being divided?

Balochis are a different people, Iranic yes, but a different race.

They are from Syria and a sister nation of the Kurds.

I can't comment on the Balochi resistance movement only Balochis like Friends of Baloch and M17ArnoBaloch can comment on the ground realities, but they do seem a bit divided and their rebellion isn't as strong as before.

Having said that they have made much of Balochistan a NO-GO zone for most Pakistanis (Punjabis and Mohajirs) to live in. Balochistan is 44% of Pakistani territory, bigger than many countries in the world. Apparently the Pakistani flag is not even allowed to be displayed in Balochi schools.

Anyway I am no expert on Balochistan nor am I Baloch, so we will have to wait to see what our resident Balochis say.

Yes. But not just Punjabi settlers get killed... Hazaras are slaughtered and Pashtuns too are a target. Any person who tries to bring development to the province is doomed.

Not ALL balochis are kurds, majority of them yes but 44% of them descend from Pashtun tribes who got balochized. Anyways the balochis need a strong leader like i said earlier to lead them. Once they do that, then they're chances of separation are much stronger.

Ok, if these things are as you say, I'm not saying they are not, then there is definitely a problem.

What does Pakistan intend to do about it?

Ok, let's just even forget these politicians and generals, what do you as an ordinary Pakistani citizen think is the way forward?

Remember in many countries the ordinary people do not favour what an elite minority of generals and politicians do, in the name of the country.

Don't you think there has to be a political solution found that will stop this violence and end these grievances?

If you use more force don't you think it will make things worse, especially with a tribal culture like the Baloch where honour and revenge are all important, where every killed relative must be avenged?

Also if you notice my posts in this thread I am not saying things like "oh the Baloch are yearning for freedom", "every Balochi wants independence". I cannot say such a thing as I am not a Balochi. What I do know is there are big problems in the region but it will end, either with peace and staying as part of Pakistan, or a South Sudan, Kosova style separation.
