Controversial American-backed Turkish nationalist Fethullah Gulen has been accused of launching a war against Turkey's democratically elected centre-right government.

Fethullah Gulen, based in the US who runs a network of schools and supporters all around the world. Gulen is accused of promoting US foreign policy interests.
Turkey's Erdogan Battles the Gulen Movement, His One-Time Ally | TIME.com
1. Gulen and his movement refrained from openly attacking secularist Turkish governments in the past which:
a: Persecuted practising Muslims
b: Sought the cultural genocide of Kurds as well as torture and killings in Kurdish areas.
However this policy of not criticizing Ankara regimes has now gone out of the window with the Gulenist media now targeting Turkey's popular centre-right government of Recep Tayyib Erdogan.
2. The Gulenist media and those allied to them including Zaman (Gulenist organ), Taraf and others are now attacking prime minister Tayyip Erdogan's administration and maligning it.
Turkey under prime minister Erdogan has made major accomplishments.
i: It has tripled its GDP in around 10 years.
ii: It has given rights to Kurds.
iii: It has reduced persecution of practising Muslims.
iv: It has allowed people to admit and express their non-Turkic identity e.g. Circassian, Laz etc.
v: It has invested in infrastructure through out the country.
vi: It has restricted the power of the fascist Kemalist military.
vii: It has successfully expanded Turkish influence in the Balkans, Caucasus and elsewhere.
viii: It has made life easier for Turkey's small Christian minority who were virtually wiped out by Ataturk and his successors.
Now however Gulen has started targeting Erdogan. American-backed Gulen is a very powerful figure and has influence over Turkish police and judiciary and in a very worrying development some suspect that Gulen was involved in the Gulenist-influenced Turkish judiciary releasing a notorious Kemalist from prison, Mustafa Balbay.

Kemalist and member of the fascist CHP party, Mustafa Balbay who is believed to have been released by the judiciary due to the influence of the Gulen network.
Other Kemalist thugs and criminals may be released from prison including those who were involved in:
- Attempting coups
- Believed in the Kemalist ideology of militant secularism, persecution of Muslims and Kurds.
- Involved in torture and brutality.
If this does indeed happen then this will be the reversal of a decade of democratization and liberation enacted by prime minister Erdogan and could revive old-style Kemalism and Turkish nationalism supported by Turkish nationalist, Fethullah Gulen. Gulen presents himself as an "Islamic" thinker, but interaction with the Gulenists show they seem to think of themselves as Turks first and Muslims second and also believe in concepts of Turkish racial supremacism amongst Muslims.
3. Two previous centre-right Turkish leaders who respected Muslim values were allegedly murdered before Erdogan.
Adnan Menderes was executed by the Kemalist military. Menderes restored rights for Muslims in Turkey.

Adnan Menderes hung by the Kemalist military. One action which he did which has made him hated by Kemalists is he restored the adhan (call to prayer) back to the original Arabic as per the wishes of Turkey's Muslim majority.

Turgut Ozal, another centre-right Turkish leader who died in mysterious circumstances and some believe was poisoned by people loyal to Kemalism.
Kemalists have often spoken of murdering Erdogan and pointed to the deaths of Menderes and Ozal.
Gulen has openly spoken out in favour of the various imprisoned Kemalists involved in the Ergenekon and Balyoz case. Gulenists are very hierarchical and obey their "abiler" (older brothers i.e seniors in command) unquestioningly in a chain of command which reaches to Gulen himself. Gulen most likely due to his arrogant and autocratic nature - despite all the lip service to love and humanism - is probably outraged at Erdogan limiting the power of the Gulen network.
Gulen's "Islam": Heavy Turkish nationalism, attempt to spread Turkophilia across the world. Dislike of Arabs and complete neglect of the language of the Quran, Arabic. Preaches Turkish racial supremacy that they are a chosen race, chosen to spread the message in contrast to treacherous Arabs. Works with Kemalist establishment. Pro-Israeli, anti-Arab.
AKP Islam: More internationalist and universal, pan-Islamic. Less anti-Arab than Gulen. Accepting of Anatolia's racial diversity i.e. Kurds, Circassians, Albanians, Laz etc.
The Islamic ummah will be watching Gulen's onslaught against the Turkish government but for those who are aware of the Gulen network and the AKP government, most Muslims would favour prime minister Erdogan's government.
* I retract some of my earlier statements and will support Fethullah Gulen and his movement as well as civil society Turkish organizations from removing Erdogan from power. However the democratization process cannot be reversed.
