4 days ago a blog published this:

According to several Angolan newspapers, Angola has become the first country in the world to ban Islam and Muslims, taking first measures by destroying mosques in the country.
“The process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, their mosques would be closed until further notice,” Rosa Cruz e Silva, the Angolan Minister of Culture, was quoted by Agence Ecofin on Friday, November 22.

Silva’s comments were given during her visit last Tuesday to the 6th Commission of the National Assembly.
She asserted that the decision was the latest is a series of efforts to ban ‘illegal’ religious sects.

According to the minister, the action was necessary to fight relentlessly against the emergence of congregations whose worshipping is contradicting with the customs of the Angolan culture.
Same as Islam, other faiths which were not legalized will face closure of their houses of worship.

According to CIA Factbook, 47% of Angolans practice indigenous beliefs, 38% Roman Catholic and 15% Protestant.

A friend of mine has got in touch with an Angolan Muslim by facebook.

It seems the Angolan regime were attacking Islam and probably thinking of banning Islam, but they got scared and are now denying it.

There is clear recorded evidence of the destruction of a basic mosque (prayer place) in the video above.

Angola Denies It Banned Islam, Destroyed Mosques

      By Connor Adams Sheets

Angola became a hot topic in the international media over the weekend, as news outlets around the world wrote about reports that the Southwest African nation had banned Islam and had begun to dismantle mosques.
But an official at the Angolan Embassy in Washington, D.C., who did not want to be identified while discussing the sensitive matter, said that there is no such ban, and that the reports are erroneous.
“The Republic of Angola … it’s a country that does not interfere in religion,” the official said via telephone Monday afternoon. “We have a lot of religions there. It is freedom of religion. We have Catholic, Protestants, Baptists, Muslims and evangelical people.”
      Related

News of Angola’s supposed ban on Islam originated in the African press, which went so far as to quote the nation’s president and minister of culture offering statements that suggested the premise of the reports was accurate.
A second official at the Angolan Embassy in the U.S. reiterated that the diplomatic seat has not been made aware of any ban on Islam in the country.
“At the moment we don’t have any information about that,” the official told IBTimes via phone on Monday. “We’re reading about it just like you on the Internet. We don’t have any notice that what you’re reading on the Internet is true.”
A close examination of some of the initial reports about the supposed ban and dismantling of mosques reveals some suspect findings. One such discrepancy is that a Google Images search shows that a photograph published by numerous news outlets this month that purportedly depicts the minaret of an Angolan mosque being dismantled in October 2012 had been used at least as early Jan. 23, 2008, when the Housing & Land Rights Network posted it to illustrate an article about the destruction of Bedouin homes in Israel.
The officials at the Angolan Embassy in Washington could not attest to the veracity of the comments attributed to officials in Angola seemingly affirming the Islam ban, which outlets including IBTimes had referenced in initial stories on the reports published over the weekend.
Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos reportedly weighed in on the controversy, as he was quoted in Nigeria's Osun Defender newspaper on Sunday as saying, "This is the final end of Islamic influence in our country," according to a report by the website OnIslam.net, which was accompanied by the suspect photo supposedly depicting the Angolan mosque’s minaret being dismantled in October of last year.
“The president has been out of the country for a week,” the first Angolan Embassy official mentioned above said, contending that as such he could not have made the remarks as they were reported.
Weekly French-language Moroccan newspaper La Nouvelle Tribune published an article on Friday sourcing "several" Angolan officials, including the minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz, who reportedly offered the following remarks, which have been translated from French: "The process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. Their mosques would be closed until further notice."
OnIslam.net reports that the African economic news agency Agence Ecofin wrote that Cruz made the statement at an appearance last week before the 6th Commission of the National Assembly. The website goes on to note that, "According to several Angolan newspapers, Angola has become the first country in the world to ban Islam and Muslims, taking first measures by destroying mosques in the country."
The first Angolan Embassy official denied knowledge that Cruz had made such comments.
“I cannot confirm if the Minister of Culture said that. I cannot find that in our press,” the official said.
La Nouvelle Tribune also reported that a minaret of an Angolan mosque was dismantled last October, and that the city of Zango "has gone further by destroying the only mosque in the city." The Embassy officials could not authenticate either of these claims.
Angola is a majority-Christian nation of about 16 million people, of whom an estimated 55 percent are Catholic, 25 percent belong to African Christian denominations, 10 percent follow major Protestant traditions and 5 percent belong to Brazilian Evangelical churches. Only 80,000 to 90,000 Angolans are Muslim, according to the U.S. State Department.

I just posted the exact same article above in post 12.

However there is recorded evidence of a building used as a mosque being destroyed.

There is a Youtube video from 2 months ago where Angolan Muslims complain of mosques being destroyed.

The Angolan regime were up to something and are now backing down.

          Disgusting regime.

That is different, for example in this forum radical Wahabi Shamlawar Khorasani as part of his daily campaign of targeting me started that thread and tagged me in it. He was upset with my support for Russia stopping America from bombing Syria.

The Quran is not banned in Russia.

              1. The Mushaf, the original Arabic Quran, which requires wudhu (abolutions) to touch is not banned.

              2. Translations are not banned other then the one mentioned in the text. Anyway anyone in Russia can go online or check their Iphone to get a translation.

              3. The federal government and Putin did not order the ban on that particular translation but a regional government.

However this is different. The Angolan regime clearly attacked mosques and the Muslim community there were complaining.

It is only now with international backlash the Angolan regime are denying their policy.

However both Nigerian and Moroccan publications reported this story and direct quotes from government officials, which they could be sued in court for if they were lying.

Even Israel and Burma allow mosques.

As usual I can see radical Wahabi and extremist Shamlawar Khurasani, who preaches violence and supports extremists in Syria and elsewhere, but sits down in his armchair in NATO-protected Holland, posting on this thread.

I can't read what he writes but I am sure as usual it's:

                1. Off-topic

                2. Insults against me/ ad hominem comments about me.

                3. Maybe some comments insulting Bangladesh or Bengalis including a racial dimension to it.

One thing which I do like about Russia and other states is as far as I know they have criminalized Wahabism and made it illegal.

Please ignore him and stay on topic as his goal is to derail the thread, create personal flame fights and in general just to deteriorate the quality of the forum.

People in this forum do not take him seriously.

The topic is Angola and all Muslims should have a common front in protecting the freedom of their Muslim brothers and sisters in Angola to practice their religion.

Instead we see a Wahabi derailing the thread. Please ignore him and do not quote as I do not wish to read any Wahabi propaganda or hate-speech.

His behaviour is not of that a person of religion.

A true person of religion is a patient and polite person who tries to explain things to people and does not insult.

In the Quran the prophet Musa (alaihi salam) was told to be polite to Pharoah, who we Muslims believe was one of the most evil men ever.

Most people here on this forum are Muslims, pray (be it 5 times or occassionally or go to jumah or Eid), don't drink alcohol, fast etc. No one takes him seriously. Have you ever seen anyone on this forum asking him for religious guidance or advice?

People on this forum respect someone like BarakzaiAbdali and actively seek his opinions on issues.

No one on this forum considers extremist Wahabi Shamlawar Khurasani as a representative of Islam or understanding it properly.

Me, more than anyone else on this forum opens threads about Muslim issues and defends the rights of Muslims. Does he do that? No, he just derails these threads and declares Muslims as infidels.

Saudi economic power is going to decline and with it will Wahabism which is sponsored by Saudi petro-dollars.

There are Muslims who do bad things e.g. Shamlawar Khurasani types.

                                Extremists, radicals, Wahabis.

Maybe the Angolan regime were scared of those types.

Maybe they just had some hostility to Islam.

I don't know but they definitely did try to destroy mosques.

I am pretty certain that they did try and ban Islam in Angola and are now retracting their plans.

In western Europe, e.g. Germany, tolerance, respect for other people's faiths is regarded with almost religious-like sanctity but not necessarily in other parts of the world, including amongst some bigoted Muslims, but Islam itself allows freedom of religion to others.

Anyway I have met Angolan people here in London and some of them are very nice people and just like anyone else.

As long as the Santos regime leaves Muslims alone, I wish Angolans all the best.
