Protesters supporting the Muslim Brotherhood stormed a lecture at a London university as a guest speaker delivered a talk on the challenges faced by Egypt. Security intervened to escort a guest speaker to safety away from protesters who chanted slogans against Egypt's interim military leaders.



A video has emerged online showing an incident in October in which dozens of angry Muslim Brotherhood followers stormed a lecture at London's SOAS college on challenges faced by Egypt.
The lecture was organized by the college's Palestine Society, and the lecturer was Dr Mohamed El-Nabawy. He was forced from the stage as the intruders waved Muslim Brotherhood flags and chanted pro-Brotherhood slogans.
According to The Evening Standard, they were unhappy over Dr El-Nabawy's ties to the anti-Morsi Tamorod group.
The Palestine Society had to call for the premature termination of the event. The guests at the lecture were led to safety by security guards. In a subsequent statement, the Society condemned the disruption, saying incidents of this kind 'pre-empt any possibility of fruitful exchange'.
The college said it was proud of its students for engaging in contemporary issues and was disappointed that the lecture was disrupted.
The SOAS, which stands for the School of Oriental and African Studies, is a constituent college of the University of London. Located in the heart of Bloomsbury, it describes itself as the 'world's leading institution for the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East', and is consistently ranked amongst the top universities in the UK.
