I just talked to a few friends from Quetta and they told me that the Baloch SO are shouting 'Azad Balochistan Zindabad' in front of the Provincial Assembly and the Governor House. The Baloch insurgency is in full swing. When was the last time a Pakistani high ranking official visited Dera Bugti or Khuzdaar in normal circumstances? The Balochs have struggled for their independence since the illegitimate occupation of the Pakistan Army of their lands on 27th March, 1948, under orders from its imperialist masters. The Balochs have faced five military operations. Their demands for independence are totally genuine.

Balochistan (Kalat) became a sovereign state after Indian Independence Act because it was not a part of the British India, but was a special territory governed by the Anglo-Baloch Treaties of 1838 and 1876. Hence, after 14th August, Balochistan became a totally sovereign state and remained so until the occupation of the Independent Baloch State by Pakistan on 27th March, 1948.
