  • Kosovo government ignores Muslim Albanians of Presheva

Prishtina – Kosovan government has decided to abolish car insurance fees for Ethnic Albanians from Southern Serbian region, known as Presevo Valley, in a gesture after Prishtina authorities ignored their demands for inclusion of their problems at EU-mediated talks agenda and calls for same rights as granted to Kosovan Serbs in the north of the new country

    1. The Kosovo government has refused to include the problems and struggles of the Muslim Albanians of the Serb-occupied Presheva valley.

    2. The Muslim world in turn - besides Turkey - has refused to give much help to the Kosovars.

Muslim Albanians used to live in a much wider area than the current Kosova including in Nis, the second city of Serbia. Those Muslim Albanians in Kosova who are originally from refugee families expelled from Nis are called "Muhaxirlar" (spelling).

The Serb capital Belgrade had many Muslims and mosques and after the Serb defeat of the Ottomans in 1878, nearly all mosques in Belgrade were destroyed i.e. around 78 mosques were said to be destroyed.

Late Bosnian president, Alija Izetbegovic (rahmatullahi 'alaih) was originally from a family of Serb Muslims that fled Belgrade i.e. his family were ethnic Serbs of the Muslim faith.

Presevo Valley Albanian politician says threatened by Serbia’s PM for asking same rights as Kosovo Serbs

        12/10/2013

An ethnic Albanian politician from Southern Serbia says he was threatened by Serbia’s Prime Minister Ivica Dacic for demanding the same rights for Presevo Valley Albanians as granted by the EU-brokered deal between Belgrade and Prishtina authorities to Serbs in north of Kosovo earlier this year.

Bushati: Serbia should respect rights of Albanians in Presevo

The Foreign Minister of Albania, Ditmir Bushati said that Serbia has many things to learn from the new state of Kosovo, especially when we talk about respecting the rights of minorities, reports Albeu.com Portal.

In the interview in the program "Prism" in Albanian Screen Bushati urged Serbia to respect the rights of Albanians in Presevo, like Kosovo respects the rights of Serbs in Kosovo.

"Kosovo respects the rights of minorities at the highest level, most than other countries in the region and Serbia should respect the rights of Albanians in Presevo, in the same way",-said Minister Bushati. /albeu.com/

          * Albania has a military defence pact with Europe's largest army, the Turkish army.

Turkey almost went to war with Greece in the 1990s after Greece threatened Albania.

There maybe 5 million or more Turks with Albanian ancestry in Turkey.

Erdogan's Kosovo remarks meant to stress close ties

Foreign Minister Davutoglu said, "Turkey would never use "Neo-Ottoman" rhetoric."

Turkish Premier's remarks on Kosovo were meant to emphasize the strong bonds between the countries, said Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Sunday.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had called Kosovo "our second home" and said, "Turkey is Kosovo, and Kosovo is Turkey,” which drew the ire of Serbia.

Davutoglu said the Serbian translation of Erdogan's address in front of a packed crowd of Kosovar Turks in Prizren portrayed Turkey as if it had an "expansionist and Neo-Ottoman" attitude.

He said he talked with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic on the issue.
"I told my dear friend that when we go to Belgrade, we also call it our second home. We say this naturally," Davutoglu said at televised program. "We see the people of Serbia as friends, just as we do the people of Albania, and we want to advance our relations with both."
"Turkey would never use such nostalgic expansionist rhetoric. However, we use the warmest of expressions to convey our sense of affinity. This is what our Prime Minister did.

*If Serbia (backed by Russia) tries to attack Kosova, the Albanian army with the support of Turkey which has a base in Albania will get involved.

Turkey, which has the biggest army in Europe, may also intervene directly as it did in Cyprus 1974 to protect the Kosovars.

Turkey has always been a major European power and should continue neo-Ottomanism (protection of beleaguered Muslim minorities) in Europe (though neo-Ottomanism is not applicable to the rest of the Muslim world).

In a decade Turkey will have the 4th biggest economy in Europe (overtaking Italy and Spain) and will increase its powerful military even more.
