EDL leaders Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll have left the controversial organization.

This is what the right-wing group's facebook said today:

A meeting was held last night with all Regional Organisers, unfortunately Tommy and Kevin failed to attend this skype conference call so the answers we were hoping to get from them did not materialise. It was agreed by all that a Committee is set up which will consist of all Regional Organisers with the National Organiser, Tim Ablitt, as Chairman.

The Committee will now run all EDL issues and a face to face meeting of the Regional Organisers will be held on the 26th October 2013 to finalise a strategy plan for the way forward

So Ablitt is the nearest the EDL have to a leader as he is the national organiser and current chairman of all regional organisers.

1. The EDL will probably decline and may even fade in to relative obscurity. One quantifiable way to see their level of support is the amount of "supporters" online or people who "like" their facebook page.

2. The EDL fanpage on facebook has 160,950 likes and I think it was actually 161,000+ a few days ago.

I will keep this thread updated to monitor their level of online support i.e. facebook likes.


3. On their facebook page there are clearly anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim quotes from their Sikh division.

I will not copy and paste them because they are blasphemous and insult Allah.

So anyone who says the EDL is not against Islam but only against political Islam is totally wrong.

1. Sikhs are very anti-Muslim and you must remember that apparently a million or so people died in the Sikh-Muslim clashes and massacres during partition and the creation of Pakistan.

2. Supporting the EDL makes Sikhs look more patriotic and in their eyes leaves a bigger distance between them and Muslims.

Anyway we cannot generalize and vilify all Sikhs. During the 2011 England riots Sikhs guarded one of London's main mosques, Whitechapel mosque, whilst Muslims prayed there during Taraweeh.

Plus those forum-goers are just a certain demography as most forum-goers are. In many people's eyes anyone who participates in a forum is a freak, and anyone who contributes to it actively lacks a life.

It's amazing.

Before a thousand people used to like each post/picture on the EDL facebook page with hundreds sharing, now it's tens of people liking their posts and half a dozen or more (at most) sharing.

A drunken EDL supporter roughed up a Church of England bishop at a public rally in Yorkshire.

The Bishop of Pontefract was manhandled at what was scheduled as a peace rally in Wakefield town centre, West Yorkshire.

Bishop Tony Robinson had just come from mass to address 100 people at a march against the anti-Islam group when he was accosted

According to witnesses, the intruder was aged around 30, dressed in an English Defence League sweatshirt and reeked of booze.

"It was shocking," said eyewitness Sally Kincaid. "The bishop was just talking and suddenly this big guy came out from behind and started shouting about grooming. It was all quite surreal and he looked drunk.

"A few people got around him and he was handed over to the police."

Bishop Robinson told IBTimes UK that efforts had been made in the past to reach out to the EDL but had failed.

"They are not always keen to debate in a non-confrontational way. It seems to me that we should talk with people like the EDL to find out why they are angry and we have tried to do that with the EDL," he said.

"This showed there are people who just want to shout obscenities."

About 100 EDL supporters descended on Wakefield for an event that was opposed by a community coalition. A counter-demonstartion of around the same size was staged by an umbrella group called 'We are Wakefield.' Police made 11 arrests including some for breach of the peace.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Milsom said. "The arrests we made were focused on preventing persons provoking trouble. Our swift action ensured that the genuine protesters and the Christmas shoppers were kept safe and feeling safer."

Late last night several people were attacked in central Malmö by members of the fascist Svenskarnas Parti (Swedes Party). They were on their way home after having taken part in celebrations for International Women's Day.

The incident occurred just after a nighttime demonstration against violence against women finished up at around midnight on Möllenvångstorget (a square in the heart of a multicultural and left wing district of Malmö). One person is now in intensive care with serious head injuries and a further three have suffered knife wounds to the arms and lung, amongst which was a member of Allt åt Alla Malmö. The nazis had been searching for potential victims the entire evening in the vicinity of the March 8th Festival at Moriska pavilion in Folketspark. The attack was, in other words, no coincidence.

The attack on the 8th of March demonstrators can't be seen as an isolated incident. The arson attack on Kvarnby peoples high school in October 2013 was only the beginning of an escalation in nazi violence around Malmö. Left wing locales and premises have been exposed to graffiti and broken windows. In January a 16 year old member of SSU (Sweden's Socialdemocratic Youth organisation) was attacked by two men, warning her about spreading her views. In several other places and cities nazis have been identified registering participants in demonstrations during International Women's Day.

The seriously injured 25 year old, who is currently being cared for in a sedated state in hospital, is a leading figure in the fight against racism and homophobia in the football world, a SAC member and devoted supporter of Malmö FF. He also helped to found "Football fans against homophobia". Based on this, he has been recently hung out on the Swedes Party linked website 'Realisten'.

According to witnesses at the scene, a high ranking member of the Swedes Party - Andreas Carlsson, was involved in the attempted murder. He was seen attacking feminists with a knife. Andreas Carlsson is one of the members of the Swedes Party who travelled down to Kiev as "Ukrainafrivilliga" (Ukraine Volunteers) to support the Svoboda party's efforts in taking power. On Realisten he has reported on the Swedish Nationalist delegation's operation.Some of the delegations participants have stayed, according to their own reports, "to enlist in the Ukrainian army", while Carlsson's group returned to Sweden only a few days before the 8th of March.

The Security Services' (Säpo) chief analyst Ahn-Za Hagström claimed on the 8th of March that they "see no increased intention or capability of committing politically motivated crimes when they get home." (SR.se March 8th) That same evening the nazis attacked. Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said in a recent interview on Swedish Radio's P1 channel that the Swedes Party's sister party Svoboda are "European democrats who work for values that are ours". This minimization and normalization of fascist parties has given the Swedes Party and their "Ukraine Volunteers" the belief that they have a free pass for their violent acts.

Not only the Security Service, but also the ordinary police have ignored the far-right violence, by depicting the murder attempt as a "gang war" between "opponents on opposite fringes". This comes less than half a year after police ignored warnings that a similar nazi party, Svernska Motståndsrörelsen (The Swedish Resistance Movement), planned to attack the anti-racist demonstration in Kärrtorp.

It is abundantly clear that the fascist threat against Sweden and Europe, against individuals and social movements, is not taken seriously. Neither the government, the security services nor the police have been able to present a clear and coherent approach towards this. Fascist violence should never be reduced to youth fights or extreme phenomena, such as, Birgitta Ohlsson's government extremist investigation. Then one misses the powerful political force that the fascist parties in Europe have become, the impetus it gives the corresponding parties at home in Sweden and ignores the seriousness of the weapons training and street fighting skills Swedish right-wing extremists have gained during his travels and visits with Jobbik in Hungary, Svoboda in Ukraine and the Golden Dawn in Greece these last few months.

Today, they stand for violence in the streets. In September, they stand for parliamentary elections.

Swedish school vandalized with Nazi graffiti

A school in central Stockholm was defaced with Nazi graffiti,

"Jewish swine," "disgusting Jews" and swastikas were among the things spray-painted onto the walls of the Vasa Real high school. Vandals also scrawled the number 1488, a symbol associated with the white power movement and the Nazi greeting Heil Hitler.



Vasa Real is not an exclusively Jewish school, but offers Hebrew and Jewish Studies classes to its Jewish students in addition to the Swedish curriculum.

In Sweden, anti-Semitic incidents have been on the rise. The most recent high profile attack was an assault on anti-Nazi protesters by neo-Nazis in a Stockholm suburb in December.

Monday's incident drew attention to the increasing sense of anti-Semitism and the influence of far-right political parties and groups in Europe, like Sweden's national socialist Party of the Swedes and Greece's Golden Dawn.

"This is the first time there has been anti-Semitic graffiti aimed at Vasa Real and its Jewish students, but if you piece together everything else that's happening, you'll see that it's more than just individual coincidences," Lena Posner-Körösi, head of the Jewish Community Association of Stockholm, was quoted as saying.

"We have an extremely worrying development both in Sweden and Europe where right-wing groups are winning power," she added. "This is a very uncomfortable situation we are facing, 70 years after the Holocaust."

The school said in a statement that the incident had been reported to police and was under investigation.

Calgary Neo-Nazi appeals murder conviction

More than a year after pleading guilty to the murder of Calgarian Mark Mariani, white supremacist Tyler Sturrup has had a change of heart and appealed his conviction.

Citing several reasons, including the psychological state he was in at the time, Sturrup has asked the Alberta Court of Appeal to overturn his conviction for second-degree murder.

And in his handwritten notice of appeal, Sturrup cites problems with his lawyer as the main reason he wants to take his case to trial.

Sturrup, 29, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for at least 10 years after pleading guilty March 4, 2013 to second-degree murder in the random beating death of Mariani.

But calling his conviction a “miscarriage of justice,” Sturrup cited several reasons why his guilty plea should be struck.

“I was not receiving adequate guidance from my lawyer,” Sturrup claimed in his appeal notice, filed Monday.

“My lawyer never came to visit me to review any aspects of my case,” he wrote.

“At a time when I was psychologically beaten down from spending a prolonged period of time on a segregation unit — almost one year — I was pressured by my lawyer to take the deal,” he said.

“She said ‘it has nothing to do with what you did, it’s who you are’ that would get the Crown a conviction.”

Sturrup also alleged staff at the Calgary Remand Centre lost his disclosure, depriving him access to it.

He wants the province’s top court to order he stand trial before a judge sitting without a jury.

In his guilty plea, in which he signed a statement of agreed facts, Sturrup acknowledged taking part in the beating death of Mariani on Oct. 3, 2010.

Mariani, 47, was attacked by Sturrup and fellow skinhead Robert Reitmeier in an alley behind a northwest Calgary strip mall.

At Sturrup’s guilty plea, Crown prosecutor Adam May told court the admitted killer confessed to police, but never explained why Mariani was attacked.

In November, a jury found Reitmeier guilty of second-degree murder for his role in the killing.

He was also sentenced to life in prison, but his parole ineligibility was set at 13 years, instead of the minimum 10.

While Sturrup’s appeal has been filed well past the 30-day period for launching a review, the court can still hear the matter if it wishes to.

Reitmeier has also appealed both his conviction and sentence.

homemade bomb with his friends, a court heard today.
Michael Piggin, 18, stored weapons and terrorist manuals in his room as he drew up a 'hit list' of pupils and teachers he wanted to attack, jurors were told.
He took knives into school and showed them to fellow pupils, the court heard.
Piggin allegedly planned to target two schools in his area, a mosque, cinema, university and council offices.
He dubbed his plans for an armed assault on his former school as 'the new Columbine', the Old Bailey heard.
The jury watched a video where Piggin and his two friends tried to create a bomb by boiling cleaning products.
Prosecutor Max Hill, QC said: 'There are over 12 films and it's clear a noxious substance is being created by boiling it up on a camping stove, perhaps Dettol or bleach.
'What Michael Piggin was doing on that film was making a bomb and it was certainly a noxious liquid.'
In Facebook messages, Piggin says that he wants to carry out his 'operation' in April and 'take out some Muslims'.
'I want to kill,' he said in February last year just days before he was arrested. 'I think I want to do it next April. I have a gun and most of the devices.

'It gives me three months to get used to the gun and make final preparations. Seems like I've been planning this forever.'
He signed off the conversation with 'Heil'.

Mr Hill said: 'The target list had been created several months before but it was very much in the mind of Michael Piggin two days before he was arrested.
'This young man is sometimes less than entirely coherent on Facebook but there are so many aspects of these discussion which cannot be explained away as just friends having banter or schoolyard chat.
'There's much more to it than that.
'Whenever the operation was going to be he didn't have the chance to carry it out because he came to the attention of the police.

'He came into possession of knives and there have been incidents involving staff and students and Michael Piggin.
'They will tell you about his racist attitudes, his offensive behaviour and verbal and physical threats to others.’
'Not on the indictment is the fact that Michael Piggin pleaded guilty to being in possession of an offensive weapon, a large knife, on February 13, 2013, just days before his arrest.
'That is what brought him to the attention of the police.'
The English Defence League supporter allegedly kept a notebook of potential targets and plans for his attack in a notebook covered in swastika flags.
Piggin and two other 18-year-old boys, who cannot be named, have already admitted possessing petrol bombs and pipe bombs.
Piggin, of Loughborough, denies possessing articles for a purpose connected with terrorism and possession of a document or a record containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism on or before February 19, 2013.
The trial continues.
