  • Syrian-Chinese talks to enhance transportation cooperation

Moscow: If Syria asks us to send troops, we’ll consider it

Russian delegation continues tour of Homs province
    14 September، 2015

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Transportation Ghazwan Kher Bek discussed on Thursday with Ambassador of People’s Republic of China Wang Qi Jian bilateral relations and means to promote them, expressing Syria’s appreciation for China’s stances in support of Syria.

The minister said Syria has a unique geographical location which gives it a strategic importance being located in the heart of the region and makes it a significant transportation route.

He expressed Syria’s willingness to benefit from Chinese experience in transportation sector, particularly in railways and civil aviation.
The minister said that the ministry is seeking to increase cooperation in developing Syrian ports to make them able to receive huge tankers, pointing out to the possibility of connecting Syrian and Chinese ports.

For his part, Qi Jian clarified that China has financial and technical potential to help transportation sector in Syria which is considered an important country in Western Asia.

The ambassador pointed out that China is interested in the growth of developing countries located between China and Europe, expressing the Embassy‘s readiness to carry out projects in Syria when possible.

*Taliban supporter and troll, "Insight" claimed that China had abandoned Syria much as he had falsely claimed in June that Russia had abandoned Syria.

As usual we can see that the supporter of the Taliban terrorist movement from Pakistan, is wrong.

    • If Assad asks, China can deploy troops to Syria

      SEPTEMBER 19, 2015, 7:51 PM 3

      BLOGGER Christina Lin

      Christina Lin

Dr. Christina Lin is a Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at SAIS-Johns Hopkins University. She is the author of "The New Silk Road: China's Energy Strategy in the Greater Middle East" (The Washington Institute for Near East Policy), and a former director for China policy at the U.S. Department of Defense.

Turkey-backed Chinese Uyghur terrorists are gaining a stronghold in Syria from which to launch attacks on China.

Chinese Uyghur terrorists establishing base in Syria

A new article reported that 3,500 Uyghurs are settling in a village near Jisr-al Shagour that was just taken from Assad, close to the stronghold of Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) that is in the Turkey-backed Army of Conquest. They are allegedly under the supervision of Turkish intelligence that has been accused of supplying fake passports to recruit Chinese Uyghurs to wage jihad in Syria.

The news comes on the heels of TIP capturing a Syrian airbase and acquiring MIG fighter jets as well as other advanced weaponry, similar to ISIS capturing Iraqi army’s advanced US weaponry.

It also comes on the heels of the Bangkok bombing at the shrine frequented by Chinese tourists, with Thai authorities now drawing a link to Uyghurs “and the same gang that attacked the Thai Consulate in Turkey” in reference to Turkey’s Grey Wolves.

This seems to corroborate IHS Jane’s analyst Anthony Davis’s assessment that Grey Wolves are the likely culprit, given their anti-Chinese protests and violent demonstration back in July.

Through Turkey’s support for the Army of Conquest, TIP has risen to prominence within the anti-Assad coalition and played a key role in defeating the Syrian army at Jisr al Shughour earlier this year.

The most prominent TIP fighter to emerge from the Jisr al Shughur videos was the spokesman for TIP’s “Syria branch” since 2014, Abu Ridha al-Turkistani. In the videos he led fighters to take over a building, and climbed a clock tower to plant a black-and-white Jabhat al Nusra style flag on which “Turkistan Islamic Party” was written in Arabic.

These Uyghur militants have claimed a series of high-profile terrorists attacks in China in 2013 and 2014, with some Uyghurs calling for an intifada against the Chinese communist regime.

Now that TIP has established a base in Syria and is expanding its presence and recruitment courtesy of its Turkish sponsors, China will have to follow through with its 2013 recommendation “Take fight to ETIM before threat grows” and deploy troops to Syria.

Non-interference does not mean inaction on core interests

Some pundits may point to China’s non-interference principle as an impasse to action. However, China’s non-interference principle is more in reference to meddling in other countries’ domestics politics, such as US/western penchant for intervention and violating other countries’ sovereignty to overthrow autocratic regimes they dislike. Non-interference policy does not mean inaction when China’s security and interests are threatened.

It is not difficult for China to take action when its core interests are threatened–that means violation of its sovereignty, territorial integrity, economic development and regime survival.

At the 2011 IISS Asia Security Summit, Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie spelled out China’s core interests as the following: “The core interests include anything related to sovereignty, stability and form of government. China is now pursuing socialism. If there is any attempt to reject this path, it will touch upon China’s core interests. Or, if there is any attempt to encourage any part of China to secede, that also touches upon China’s core interests related to our land, sea or air. Then, anything that is related to China’s national economic and social development also touches upon China core interests”.

If the TIP continues to gain power within the Army of Conquest that is a jihadi witches brew of various al Qaeda affiliates and salafist extremists, Xinjiang may become the next Afghanistan and follow the pattern of Afpak, Syria/Iraq, with local militant forces/cross border havens attracting foreign fighters, and enjoying material and diplomatic support from Turkey and other outside powers with shared ideology/interests.

Moreover, the Assad regime is currently still the legal and UN-recognized government of Syria, despite only holding 1/3 of its territory. If Assad asks and gives permission for Russia, China and other SCO members to assist him militarily, that would be in accordance with international law.

This differs from the current US-led anti-ISIS coalition airstrikes in Syria that is neither operating under a UN mandate nor permission from the sovereign government, although it enjoys implicit permission to some extent from the Assad regime to fight ISIS. In 2014 Britain’s David Cameron hesitated to participate in Syrian airstrikes precisely due to fears of violating international law.

      Turkey’s proxy war with China

With Erdogan waging an Islamist proxy war on China, Kurds, Assad, Sisi, Netanyahu via Al Qaeda affiliates, Army of Conquest, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, it is no wonder Syria and Egypt both applied to join the China-led SCO in June this year.

Thus Syria and China both share threats from the Army of Conquest that is attacking Assad and China’s Xinjiang. As Peter Lee noted, it is also worrying for the Chinese that when Palestinian President Abbas visited Erdogan’s new presidential palace in January 2015, the honor guards of 16 soldiers dressed in historical warrior costumes included a Uyghur.

Each warrior represents one of the 16 “great (or historic) Turkish empires” commemorated on Turkey’s official seal, one of which is the Uyghur Khanate that had subjected the Tang Dynasty to a de facto tributary relation when the Chinese empire was weak.

Thanks to Hurriyet, we know that the Uyghur warrior was the sixth man from the top of the steps on the left.

With Erdogan expanding Turkey’s influence in Syria and ambitions to reconstitute the “Turkic world from the Adriatic Sea to the Great Wall” of China, should SCO aspirant member Syria request aid and grant permission, China can indeed march its troops across the Silk Road to “take the fight to ETIM before threat grows.”

      • Contrary to the rubbish Unknown Prince (now using a new alias as "Insight" is claiming) China has far from distanced itself from Syria.

However this should surprise no one as Unknown Prince knows nothing about geo-politics as we have seen time and time again...lol

        Re: Chinese intervention in Syria

        - The Chinese are an older and greater civilization than either the Americans (west) or Russia and are masters of geo-politics and cunning.

        - Because some woman of Chinese background who has been co-opted by Neo-cons advocates Chinese soldiers being sent to Syria, that doesn't mean they will. If anything this would raise suspicion in their mind as to why an American-affiliated individual is saying such a thing?

        - If Chinese troops are in Syria they can be easy pickings for Wahabi fanatics looking to kill them.

        - Also China generally believes in non-interventionism and in preserving her reputation abroad. Having Chinese soldiers fighting Wahabis in Syria (precisely what the Americans might want) will anger some Sunnis in the Arab and Islamic world.

Why do this, when Russian and Iranian troops can do this instead?

If China does intervene in Syria it will be - as now - through the use of her naval power in the eastern Mediterranean near the Syrian coast as a deterrence to American aggression.

It is possible that China may consider sending troops to Syria, but I doubt it.

Also there have been massive Sino-Russian military exercises recently.

The post you're looking for could not be found or may have been deleted.

It seems the dragon is back!

China's armed forces may send a contingent to Syria according to some people on social media.

It seems like the dragon is ready to kick Yankee ass once again, this time in the form of their ISIS/Nusra/Wahabi proxies.

So the Syrians will be getting support from both Russia and China it seems, not to mention Iran.

The Americans and Germans meanwhile have announced their decision to pull out patriot missiles from Turkey by early next year.

This follows reports over a week ago that Russian colonel-general Vladimir Shamanov, has said Russia is prepared to send elite Russian airborne troops to Syria if the Assad regime requests so, a clear indication to the Americans to back off.

Vladimir Shamanov second from right, has spoken of Russian elite airborne troops going to Syria.

However later on the Russian government denied that Russia would send troops to Syria, perhaps the initial statement by Shamanov (if indeed issued and most likely it was) and the subsequent denial by the Kremlin is just a concealed warning to the US.

                Russian airborne troops.

*I doubt the Russians would send their own soldiers to Syria whilst they could rely on local Arabs to do their fighting. This is just a message to the Americans that if things really do get too out of hand the Russians are prepared to send their forces in to Syria the way the Americans went in to Iraq and Afghanistan.

However after the SAA and allied Shia militias it would be a major deployment of Iranian troops that would probably be expected to support the Assad regime.

The above post was from the 16th of August.

                1. I had claimed/predicted possible Russian military intervention in Syria.

Because I did not use the corporate mainstream western media, I would have been labelled a "conspiracy theorist".

In fact I predicted Russian military involvement as far back as May, almost half a year before the Russians went in.

Even respected bloggers such as "The Saker" (run by an ex-US military officer) and others did not predict this and even rubbished the idea.

                2. How reliable or accurate someone is can be seen by how accurate his predictions are.

                I predicted Russian involvement.

I said that for Russia, Syria was a red line.

I said that Russia was prepared to go to nuclear war over the Syria crisis.

                What do we see now?

The biggest deployment of Russian troops for decades.

                3. Worship of the western media

Some on this forum revere the western media. According to such people e.g. the now banned Arab nationalist troll, "Brown Skinned Savage", the western media is the following:

                - Always truthful.

                - Never lies.

                - Always accurate and reliable.

                - Angelic beings with no agenda but a noble mission of just enlightening their viewers with truth.

However the reality is different. The western media are not angelic beings made out of light, who never lie. They do lie, do twist, do exaggerate. So relying upon them exclusively is dangerous.

A lot of the "analysis" (spin) they put on events is false and is in accordance with their agenda. That is why it is good to assess the analysis of an independent analyst such as myself and weigh it upon its merits and not be blinded by the supposed "all-knowing, all-truthful nature" of the western media.

Love them or hate them, the descendants of King Abdul-Aziz, the founder of the House of Saud, had always...

The new king Salman who is 79 years old, and also reportedly a sufferer of Alzheimers disease, didn't have the regular Saudi established either political or succession lineage to follow. His power-hopeful son Mohamad wanted to secure his position to be the first king from the second generation, so he talked his father into turning the tables, making a coup within the royals, thereby marginalizing the old guards and appointing him as the deputy crown prince. With the king and crown prince both old and sick, in effect, the arrogant and inexperienced 30 years old Mohamed bin Salman became the uncrowned king and the first to assume this position from the second generation royals.

If Bandar was bad enough to take the gamble of launching the proxy-war against Syria, the new arrogant king-hopeful did not only ignore the death-wish of the grandfather let alone learned from the mistake of his cousin Bandar, he has gone further and actually engaged the Saudi Army for the first time ever in combat, and in Yemen out of all places.

He thought it was all planned well. He truly counted on Pakistani and Egyptian ground troops to support him and put boots on the ground for him. He was wrong on both counts. Then came the icing on the cake; the signing of the Iran nuclear deal. His “Royal arrogance” is feeling the coldness of being alone.

Given that he has no idea how to deal with what is left of Bandar's war aka Syria. Suddenly he sees himself facing two huge threats; Syria and Yemen... well make that three when you add ISIS to the equation.
He is quickly realizing that Yemenis are not less fierce as fighters than the Afghanis. With recent bomb attacks in the Saudi Eastern Province and Kuwait, his fear is not only about his own self-promised throne, but also about the continuity of the House of Saud.

But according to reliable recent reports, it seems that Mohamed has learned something from his cousin Bandar.

By a twist of fate, almost exactly to the day two years ago his cousin Bandar stormed into Moscow parading like Don Quixote trying to intimidate, threaten and bribe President Putin. Two years later, Mohamed now realises that President Putin is an important person not to be under-rated. Feeling abandoned by the Americans and bogged down in two wars and facing the threat of ISIS, when Putin offered him an opportunity to extend an olive branch to Syria, it is not at all surprising that he grabbed it like someone drowning grabbing a lifebuoy.

Saudi delegation led by 2nd crown prince, Mohammad to visit Putin in Moscow.

His eventual Russian-sponsored and brokered meeting with Syrian General Ali Mamluk was meant to be the ice-breaker. The two parties agreed to disagree on many issues, but agreed to meet again.

Neither the Saudis nor the Syrian officials denied this secret meeting after it was reported on the Arabic paper Al-Akhbar and co-published on the highly reliable Al-Manar. The only medium who denied it ever happened was an obscure anti-Hezbollah Shiite Arabic-language online newspaper by the name of Al-Jounouieh. Parties who are in shock or in denial that the meeting did take place are suddenly quoting Al-Jounoubieh.
This meeting was not expected to solve the huge impasse between Syria and Saudi Arabia. As a matter of fact, it was not expected to happen at all, and the fact that it did happen is a miracle of its own.
Where will Mohamed Bin Salman go from here is not really the pertinent question. What is more pertinent is what options has he got. He has nothing left to gain in Syria and a lot to lose in Yemen. Deep down inside he knows that if he can count on Russia to get him out of the mess in Syria, he may use her services later on in Yemen. It is truly a choice between the throne and the abyss.

In my previous post I had urged readers of this forum (the silent majority include many international non-Pashtun readers including journalists, professionals and others) not to believe everything they read in the mainstream media and to take my analysis seriously.

So I will post the following news and then explain it.

Russia's Putin, Saudi defense minister agree to cooperate in Syria

                  Reuters

SOCHI, Russia (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin met Saudi Arabia's defense minister on Sunday, in Moscow's biggest attempt so far to reach out to enemies of Syria's President Bashar al-Assad since Russia joined the conflict with air strikes.

Speaking after the meeting between Putin and Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman, a son of the Saudi king, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said both countries were willing to cooperate in Syria and wanted to prevent the formation of a "terrorist caliphate".

"On both sides, as far as I can tell, there is an understanding that today's meeting can advance our cooperation," Lavrov said.

Russia's intervention in Syria has infuriated Assad's regional foes, including Saudi Arabia, who say Russian air strikes have been hitting rebel groups opposed to Assad, and not just the Islamic State fighters Moscow says it is targeting.

Lavrov acknowledged that Saudi Arabia had "concerns" about Russia's aims but said it was targeting only extremists, including Islamic State and Jabhat al Nusra, a group linked to al Qaeda.

The Russian air strikes derailed a tentative detente between the two countries earlier this year, which aimed to smooth tensions over Syria and relations with Riyadh's regional rival Iran.

"We expressed our concerns that these operations could be regarded as an alliance between Iran and Russia," said Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir.

"But in the conversation, our Russian friends explained to us that the main aim is the fight with ISIS and terrorism," he added, using an acronym for Islamic State.

A lot of people don't understand diplomacy and military-strategic affairs and take the "nice pleasantries" and "sweet words" seriously and don't understand how to decode that in to real speak.

                  1. The Saudis have gone to Russia and not vice versa. This means in diplomacy that the visiting party is in need and is kind of humbling itself, unless of course it is just reciprocation of an earlier visit, which this wasn't.

In other words "you come to me, I won't come to you".

                  2. Not only did the Saudis go to Russia, Putin didn't even bother to meet them in the capital Moscow, but they had to meet him "on the sidelines of a Formula 1 race".

In other words Putin did not change his schedule for them, did not meet them in the capital.

This was a rushed visit, in other words it was an emergency visit.

                  3. The Saudis are panicking over the Russian operation in Syria and know that Russia is not an equal to them but a far bigger and more senior state hence them running to Putin.

Them running to Putin in this manner is basically humiliating, they have humbled themselves to rush to him in an unplanned, emergency visit.

In the picture above, there is no smile from "baby Salman" a.k.a Crusty the Clown, the Saudi 2nd crown prince, or from Putin.

Even in the picture observers such as ourselves can see the tension, the coldness, the complete lack of any real friendship or warmth or even pretence of either between the two. Putin looks the more relaxed of the two whilst "baby Salman" looks nervous, even perhaps somewhat humiliated. My intuition tells me Putin has, perhaps, internally a derisory, even mocking attitude to the traditional robes and headgear of the Saudi, who is not wearing a suit.

The picture above is from Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya.

                  4. The Saudis did not:

                  - Condemn the Russian military operation.
                  - Call for Assad to be removed.
                  - Make any confrontational statements.

They said they were concerned but supported Russia in wanting to prevent an ISIS state (ISIS is sponsored by America and its regional sub-contractors Saudi and Turkey).

In other words, the richest and most powerful state in the Arab world knows that there is very little it can do in Syria.

                  They are clearly scared.

Also if Putin starts thinking of permanently placing Russian troops in Iraq (a British newspaper said he wanted to put 0.1 million Russian soldiers in to Syria, possibly just British propaganda), then the Russian bear - a nuclear superpower - will be on the borders of Saudi.

Saudi will start feeling very uncomfortable. They have been scared of Iran's military for years and Russia's is far superior. If Shia Iraq and Iran with the help of Russia wanted to take eastern Saudi where the oil fields are, there is very little the Saudis could do unless the Americans stepped in.

                  Would the Americans step in?

The Americans have failed in Ukraine, they failed to stop Russia from taking Crimea, they failed to stop Russia from smashing Georgia in 2008, they have failed to stop Russia from de facto establishing control of Syria's air and sea space.

Summary: The Saudis are shocked and are trembling at the Russian operation in Syria hence they've run wildly to Russia, not even to Moscow, but to a provincial capital to meet Putin whilst he was watching a sports event. They seem to have accepted its game over in Syria. "Saudi-Russian" defence co-operation in Syria does not mean Saudi arms rebels who want to kill Russian soldiers, it means they stop supporting these rebels.

                      • Update:

                        - The British newspaper article about Russia sending 0.1 million soldiers to Syria (150,000) seems to be nonsense as are a lot of western media stories.

                        - The Saudis are feeling the heat and a senior Saudi, Jamal Kashoggi, has said that Saudi is almost at war with Russia. Nothing will happen though. However officials close to Putin have spoken of targeting both Saudi and Qatar.

                        - Russia has started bombing ISIS including ISIS oil refineries, ISIS oil lorries and declared sanctions against Turkey after Turkey shot a Russian plane.

                        - Russia has now started bombing the Turkish border with Syria destroying Turkish lorries, killing Turkish drivers and recently a Turkish bakery in Idlib.

Turkey has been unable to respond to Russian military might.

Turkeys planes now no longer enter Syrian airspace.

Turkey may now no longer be able to stop Kurds from expelling ISIS from northern Syria.

It is unlikely Turkey will attempt an invasion of Syria as this might mobilize the 0.7 million Iranian army.

                        • Obama eyes Putin today at the G20 in Paris.

Obama looks angry or he looks confused with static sloppy arms not sure what to do.

                          Putin looks happy and fresh.

Putin is winning the war in Syria.

No reports of Putin accepting Erdogans pleas for a meeting with him on the sidelines of the G20 meeting. Erdogan's begging doesn't seem to have worked!

Saudi Regime planning to execute a Saudi citizen, a Shia scholar from the east of Saudi Arabia.

                              Global international outcry against this:

Supporters of Al-Nimr, the Saudi Shia scholar being threatened with beheading by the Saudi regime.

Nimr, a prisoner in a Saudi jail.

                              Supporters of Nimr in London.

The post above was from the 17th October 2014, around 15 months ago at a time when the western media didn't really speak about Nimr.

                              Some points to know.

                              1. Many people including many of the trolls on this site revere the western media and unless the western media mention something then a: It hasn't happened b: It isn't important.

So if anyone speaks about something the western media don't talk about he is a "conspiracy theorist".

I spoke about Nimr a year before he was executed, the same way I predicted that white Orthodox Christian Russia would send soldiers and planes for olive Muslim Arab Syrians 5 months before they actually did that.

                              2. I warned that a Nimr execution would have repercussions and now we can see this on the western media which is revered by fanboys across the world including the many trolls on this forum.

                              • Just to reinforce what I said about the brainwashing of many including many on this forum by the western media.

Their perception of how important an event is determined by what the western media tells them.

                                - So when Bengal_Tiger talks about Nimr in 2014, Bengal_Tiger is a "conspiracy theorist", "propagandist".

When Saudi executes him in 2016 and the whole western media focus on the consequent Saudi-Iran clash, then Nimr becomes important because the western media has said so.

                                - When Bengal_Tiger mentions the Yemen war in 2015-2016 it is not important because he is a "conspiracy theorist", "propagandist" because the western media never talk about the Yemen war.

One Saudi Shia dies and western media fanboys take it seriously, thousands and thousands of Yemenis are killed and western media fanboys could care less.

Iranian protest outside Saudi embassy in Tehran.

This shows us the power of the western media and what hold they have over millions including the many trolls on this site.

                                My predictions:

                                - Being the person who predicted the Russian military intervention in Syria 5 months before it happened when other "experts" said it would never happen.

                                - Being the person who spoke about Nimr on page #13 of this thread in 2014, here are my predictions.

Will there be a Saudi-Iran war?

                                NO.

                                Why?

There will be no direct Saudi-Iran frontal war rather Iran will continue to bleed the Saudis through the Houthis. If the Houthi/Yemen crisis spirals out of control senior Saudi princes will remove Salman and his maverick son, ibn Salman and end the war, simple as that.

However the Iranians are historically intellectually superior to the desert bedouin of central Arabia (not western Arabia the birthplace of the holy prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) and are masters of strategy and can easily outwit the simple-minded and brutal Najdi (central Arabian) bedouin of Saudi.

Iran is bleeding Saudi in Yemen, has a pro-Iran government in Iraq, is winning in Syria and will become a major power in the middle east.

Saudi, encouraged by the west who enjoys seeing Muslims and brown people kill each other, will try to hurt Iran but will just be wasting cash.

If there will be no direct Saudi-Iran war in the long run, then what will happen?

The Saudis will probably stay, unless something very dramatic happens, but they will waste energy on weakening Iran and will in the process get weakened themselves. Their population is expanding, oil is decreasing and on top of that the price of oil is low as well. 1/4 million Saudis have gone to the west to study in universities and will return to form the new Saudi elite, this elite will be the new Saudi post-Salafi elite who will reject orthodox Salafism (Wahabism) and call for a more liberal society akin to the UAE, Jordan etc.

In the next decade or so something major will emerge from the middle east, a new set of Muslims who will be neither Salafi (Wahabi) or Shia and will stabilize the middle east and make Muslims a major world power yet again. I cannot disclose anything more than that for now but I have my sources.

Until this group emerges the middle east will continue to be unstable, either extremely unstable like now, maybe even more or just mildly unstable.

It is only this group of Muslims whom I have mentioned that will bring order and calm to the middle east.

The western agenda however is to encourage Shia-Sunni fratricide and Muslim v Muslim killing in the middle east and civil wars. This agenda is working.

China and Russia will or already have ended US uni-polar global hegemony, in a decade or two the Muslim world will see peace and a major role in global affairs.
