Jamuna Future Park, a shopping complex and entertainment park situated in the capital’s Pragati Sarani, was inaugurated Friday after 11 years of its initiation.

Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir inaugurated the shopping complex.

At the ceremony, he congratulated Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul and his wife Salma Islam MP for the initiative and hoped that the establishment would take the reputation of Bangladesh to a new height in the world.

LGRD State Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Prime Minister’s Adviser HT Imam, BNP’s Vice-Chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, Jatiya Party’s General Secretary ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader and its Presidium member Kaji Zafar Ahmed and film star Razzak were also present.

After the opening ceremony, the entertainment zones were opened for visitors. A large number of city dwellers mainly children and teenagers visited the place.

The mega mall houses approximately 500 shops on each floor. Apart from the shops, level 5 hosts around 4,500 restaurants and food shops including some globally-renowned brands, said authorities.

On the same floor, there is an entertainment zone “Future World” which has four indoor rides, 157 video games, rock climber, magic show and seven d-rider, three rooftop rides, double-decker, floating valley and many more.

At the player’s club, it has 22 lanes of bowling alley, two pool and billiard boards, three snooker boards, eight karaoke stations, musical floor, blockbuster cinemas including seven theatre halls, and vogue life style lounge including spa, hydro spa, sauna, make-over saloon, beauty parlour, gymnasium and swimming pool.

In the open space outside the mall, there are six outdoor rides including a rollercoaster, tower challenger, magic windmill, pirate ship, sky droop and flying disco.

A concern of Jamuna Group, the mall’s construction started in the year 2002 and the exterior was completed within 2008.

According to the claims of the complex’s authorities, it is the largest shopping mall in South Asia and third largest in the world, built on a total area of approximately 13.4 hectares (33acres) with a shopping area of more than 1.6m square feet.

Here we go again, another neo-communist secular Afghani who dislikes Bengalis.

This is more world news than all the bombs and attacks and other stories in Afghanistan posted here in the "World news" section.

It's of more use than videos by Killzai or a lot of the other rubbish on here which you have no problem with idiot.

This event has the same importance for the rest of the World as the Applebee's that just opened in Idaho.

question, how easy it is for a Pakistani/Canadian to visit Bangladesh? I have a friend there who I want to visit. I will be going to Pakistan for a month in December, so probably would do it on the same trip

Easy for you to say living in the West. If I was in Bangladesh I'd be there every day, just for the free air conditioning.

Were I a destitute Bangladeshi, I'd get together with nine of my slumdogs and split one new polo shirt and one new pair of pants ten ways, take turns using it to get into the Januna mall which is like the next Taj Mahal, or Egyptian pyramid but fully air conditioned.

Afterwards we could talk about all the movie previews we saw in the cinema lobby.
