Malgariya, supporting the Taliban does not mean that he supports the Pashtuns. He opposes operations not because he cares for the Pashtuns, but because he is a pro-Talib nobody who wants to score points by fueling anti-Americanism. He has never supported the renaming of Pakhtunkhwa. He has never supported the unity of Pashtuns, he has never supported the economic rights of Pashtuns, he has never supported the cultural rights of Pashtuns. In fact, he does not acknowledge the existence of Pashtuns as a political and national entity.

Those who think that Imran Khan supports Pashtuns should be able to recall the year 2009 when he declared in his TV interview with Dr. Mooed Pirzada that he will negotiate with the Taliban to secure a peace deal....that made him equal to the likes of jihdi generals and other wahabi ideologists whose dream of Pan-islamism has killed millions of Pashtuns on both sides.
I call him a sophisticaed religious fundamentalist who tried to justify the blowing up of school girls in Swat as "vicious propaganda of the goverment" with his clean-shaven avatar . By using the self-claimed anti-USA sentiments of the Pashtun people, he always try to justify his stance. His emphasis is always on the 'Pashtun talibans' and would deliberately ignore the evil role played by "Punjabi/foreign talibans" . I consider him a pro-Jihadi, a pro-Taliban, and anti-Pashtun. Period.

Those who support him, what is his manifesto? What does it have for the Pashtuns?

He has no political ideology. Not even Pashtun nationalism. Those who think he supports Pashtuns must be able to recall one more thing: Thousands of innocent tribal masharaan, scholars, teachrs, doctors have been killed, kidnapped, or threatenend. Have you ever heard a single condemnation from his side as a so-called Pashtun? On the contrary, he justified the killing of the masharaan of waziristan on the basis that they were pro-USA and therefore they were killed by Talibans. He always justifies the talibans's barbarism with his outrageous notion that the people of FATA are against USA. For a second even if we believe that Pashtuns have anti-USA sentiments, it still does not provide justification for blowing up schools and the massacre of innocent Pashtuns on both sides of the Durand Line by the evil talibaans.

Hi, Ianus... see, your response presented a good evolution from the first affirmation I’ve been given about MY interests; your concerns about the audience to that sentence, though, still suffers of lack of consideration.

Anyway, the key being “IF you count yourself as part of the Pashtun Millat”. To begin with, I have no clue on what a “millat” is, but taking in mind the issues treated here, I’ll think something like a “nation”, “society”, “army”, “block”, anything in that line.

Even IF I were part of that millat, I would still be entitled my own needs and interests. But, because it’s easier to just dismiss that now.... first thing I did when came into the thread was to acknowledge I wasn’t talking much about Imram because I don’t know much about his political platforms so, I can’t here defend or criticize him for having a real plan for Pashtuns or not. Whatever is in that for Imram, I’m gladly learning now, while reading to you people’s posts.

In any case, as I said, you’re discussing someone who’s running for presidency, the leadership of a country with many other tribes.... since I have no reason – coldly speaking – to privilege the interests of Pashtuns, despite my personal simpathies; and I am looking to the issue from the outside, I am more than inclined to consider his projects to the country, not only to one tribe. I’m sorry to hurt many feelings if that’s the case, but I would still like to acknowledge, I didn’t exactly present my personal preferences towards the candidates and their policies. I can’t and won’t comment on something I’m not fully aware of.

Anyway.... IF I were a part of the Pashtun Millat I COULD be more INCLINED to agree with you when you say the interests of Pashtuns should be my only concern. My existence, though, shouldn’t be of your concern whatsoever.

But, if that’s how you want to take this discussion, good luck in convincing a rough majority of the Pakistani population that they should elect a president who defends the interests of a Pashtun minority. I think what you failed to understand is – for reasons I save myself the right to silence – I was trying to find a real option for Pashtuns in this politics. Talking in theory.

            Finally, I’m outta here.

Shlombay, I am quite disappointed that many Pashtuns including you have not awaken yet from the slumber of denial. Killing of innocent Pashtuns should melt him to condemn the barbaric acts of Talibans, not to gain political mileage out of it..which he did as per record.

Pakistan in not sincere in its efforts since they have always considered 'talibans' as their strategic assests. The frustration of not being able to eradicate them (talibans) does not provide any basis for the acceptance of their atrocities. Being silent on their evil acts is in a way justifyin/accepting their evilness. That is what Imran Khan is doing as a so-called Pashtun.

Malgariya, innocent people have died over all of Pakhtunkhwa, but he has never raised voice for them. Instead, he rants on about Black Water and Zionists. He wanted to negotiate because he wanted the Pashtun poulation to be held hostage by the Taliban and thier masters, the ISI and Pak Army.

Secondly, malgariya, you speak as If the Taliban are an unknown, century-old phenomenon. We know when, how and who created the Taliban. We just need to provide the antidote. I don't think Pakistan wants to eliminate the Taliban. The Taliban shall remain as long as the forces in the region need them. They have no existence of their own. I think they will die out as soon as Pakistan breathes it's last. An example is Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. He was the head of a formidable force and a feared commander. But as soon as the Pakistanis pulled the plug on him, he fell like a house of cards against his sibling, the Taliban.

Our foremost benchmark to assess someone should be his value to the Pashtun cause. Imran Khan, I repeat, was the prime media resource of the Swat Taliban. He plays with the apolitical youth of Pakistan by repeating his anti-corruption, anti-US slogans. Are you aware of his manifesto? What is in it for the Pashtuns?
If I were a Pakistani(God forbid), I would always side with the liberal forces ie PPP, and the nationalist parties.
sorry never heard of those geezars...I don't even watch GEO.

Listen all my family is in Pakistan and for their safety we need someone good and honest and not some corrupt pile of crap like Zardari.

Many people supposedly condemn the deaths of innocents. Even Patreaus supposedly feels for innocents. That is not the point. The point is that his policy, his base support, his statements are in line with right wing populism in Pakistan. And right wing populism is a major hurdle for Pashtuns. They will be the first to side with the likes of Hamid gul, Qazi Ahmed Hussein, etc. I don`t know why our own shot themselves in the foot.

Aseer jan brother, I am sorry, as i could not write my comments. However, hope you are waited with patience.

See Brother, I am against Imran Khan and his political views and action for the following reasons although i appreciate his sincerity and social welfare actions like shaukat Khanum and Namal college mianwali, and now planning for cancer hospital in karachi and peshawar.

!) He is politically immature as he does not understand the situition. He will be lost in history like Asghar Khan who was more popular than Imran Khan till 1977, but he could not understand how to lead the nation. I mean right decision on right time. In case of Imran Khan, like his support for Musharraf (it means he has no differences with dictatorship in principal) although for a politician dictatorship is unacceptable in any case anywhere anyhow. Then he make differences with Musharraf and side with Chauhdry Iftikhar and nawaz Sharif and now for one MPA seat differences with Nawaz Sharif. It means he never have had political principals.
                      2) His own behaviour is of dictator. Before election 2008, all of his party central executive members decide for going into election and he imposed his decision on them and bycott election.
                      3) He is a hard core rightest. I think you know better than me, who are rightest. He never condemn the sucide attacks, bomb blasts in Pakistan or Afghanistan without saying but if wether either etc after it. I mean terrorism needs starighforward opposition. He also divert the attention of population by naming RAW Blackwater CIA Mossad KhAD etc after bomb balst, which means indirect support for Taliban. If Taliban accept themselves the attacks, why he is blaming others for it. I dont know he is doing it Hubb-e-Ali (love for Taliban) or Bughde-eMoaweya (hate for USA).
                      4) For a politcial party and politician first basic condition is the party manifesto, which includes planning for runing the country, which he lacks completely and till now his party manifesto is lacking where his basic principles are mentioned. One day he says emergency on eductaion is needed and another day on TC he says, no before eductaion judiciary is essential. He should have being a politican a priority list and planning.
                      5) He is saying that he will control terrorism in 90 days, then where is the plan for it? it means either he does not know the problem, or he want to mislead the public. I think me and you knwo the problem better than him.
                      6) He present Pashtuns as beasts everywhere by saying FATA people did not accept anyone and so on, which provoke and encourage Taliban for further terrorism.Pa mla ye tappawee.
                      7) He is niazi Pashtun but if he wants to present himself as a Pashtun? I think no way, as i met him and I asked him this thing directly while sitting in our hujra in 2002. Because I asked him this thing in a context that if he considered himself more pashtun, then he came to us for politics as he was contesting from our area national assembly seat and building hospital in lahore. Many other things we discussed as well.

Asser jan, main conclusion is that he needs an ideology which he lacks.

However, hope you will not get mad.

I agree with you that a politician should have a clean record and reputation but calling him a hypocrite on the basis of his past deeds do not fullfill the defination of hypocracy.

Imran khan party PTI lacks landlords and influential persons i.e it is a one man show. That is why he is a big failure in a country which is ruled by lanadlords since its creation. Imran Khan glorifies Pashtuns but as footsoldiers of Islamic Jehad, which is the style of many pro-Pakistani Jehadi/Islamist ideologues and politicians, who want to take advantage of the martial prowess of Pashtuns. Such people don't see Pashtuns as a nation but as a community of crude mountain warriors fit to fight others' wars. In this view, only those Pashtuns are good who sub-ordinate themselves to Pakistani state ideology/identity and don't talk of Pashtun national existance and aspirations.

In his visits abroad, he tries to portray Pashtunwali as a set of values providing a favourable ground for voilence and religious extremism and talks of negotiation with Taleban. In his views, Taleban and other Jehadi groups are the true representatives of Pashtuns and, therefore, have the right to occupy seats of power in Kabul as well as Peshawar, Queta, and Islamabad. This is exactly what the Punjabi establishment of Pakistan wants to propagate. An evidance of his support for Pakistani objectives in the region is that, known mouthpieces of the Punjabi establishment e.g. Sherin Mazari, etc. are advisors of Imran Khan.

He is also a hypocrite of highest degree. He speaks of poor people but lives on a large estate spread over 16 hectures of land just close to Islamabad. His mansion , the "Jamima House" is located there. There are also other symblems of fudal luxury like nini-Zoos, etc. located on the estate.

This is the thing what i wnated to tell you, that basically he cannot tolerate someone in the party who can of higher intellect and position than him. I am of the opinion that he can just give an ideology and if he feels osmone else can implement better than him, he should give way to him for the implementation. But he wants all the thigns doen himself and he cannot rely in anyone. It is his failure.
