Top cleric Qaradawi calls for Jihad against Hezbollah, Assad in Syria

    Sunday, 2 June 2013

    ,

    Al Arabiya with AFP
Influential Sunni Muslim cleric Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawi on Saturday called for jihad in Syria as he lashed out at Shiite group Hezbollah for sending its men to fight the mostly-Sunni insurgents in Syria.

“Every Muslim trained to fight and capable of doing that (must) make himself available” to support the Syrian rebels, the cleric said at a rally in Doha late Friday.

“Iran is pushing forward arms and men (to back the Syrian regime), so why do we stand idle?” he said, branding Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which means the party of God in Arabic, as the “party of Satan.”

Hezbollah, a close ally of Iran and the Syrian regime, is openly engaged in the fight against the rebels in Syria. It has also fought for years against Israel, arch rival of Iran and Syria.

“The leader of the party of the Satan comes to fight the Sunnis... Now we know what the Iranians want... They want continued massacres to kill Sunnis,” Qaradawi said.

“How could 100 million Shiites (worldwide) defeat 1.7 billion (Sunnis)?” he exclaimed, “only because (Sunni) Muslims are weak”.

The cleric blamed himself for previously backing Hezbollah and its leader Hassan Nasrallah who gained popularity after steadfastly leading his group in the fight against Israel in 2006.

“I defended the so-called Nasrallah and his party, the party of tyranny... in front of clerics in Saudi Arabia,” which is wary of neighboring Shiite Iran and its allies.

“It seems that the clerics of Saudi Arabia were more mature than me,” Qaradawi said.

But the cleric insisted that his call to fight Hezbollah is “not against all Shiites.”

Fighters of Hezbollah are engaged in fierce battles against the rebels to capture the Syrian town of Qusayr near the Lebanese borders.

The militant group has already lost dozens of its men in the battle for Qusayr.

        May Allah forgive you

Yes through this war for Islam reigning supreme i've had a lot of family killed (non combatants as in people who didn't fight and aren't fighters) in Afghanistan.

I hope Allah does not make me of the muhajir afghans that have ran away from the battlefield who love dunya and hate death for the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said they are the foam that floats on the surface of the ocean!

edit: sc*m isn't a swear word in english, it literally means the foam of the ocean. So I don't know why my post was edited.

This is just HYPED up propaganda to make the situation worse than it already is, one cleric says jihad against Hezboallah and its all over the news, what about the grand mufti of Saudi which is the head of the religious establishment that said "Jihad in Syria is not permissible" or the King himself that urges execution of those who encourage young people to go to Jihad in Syria and Iraq..what about the Saudi palace mufti, Abdul-Azeez Aal ash-Sheikh that urged the Arabian Muslim youths not to join the Mujahideen in Syria because "it is unknown under which banner they are fighting" or Sufyan al-Thawri that is staunch in the interference of participating in the Syrian conflict. people don't show them because its not even drama.

There are plenty of saudi scholars who are calling for jihad in Saudi, the situation of Saudi is changing quite a bit due to the shia intervention, some of it is Jihad of the "pans and the pots" (abdullah Azzam rah quote)

So when 42 non Muslim countries annihilate Afghanistan the top clerics don't call for international Jihad, when Burmese Muslims are directly slaughtered because of their faith there's no call for international Jihad, when Gujarat massacres in India happen against Muslims theres no call for jihad, when Bosnia was going through genocide which Saudi cleric called for international jihad?? How about Chechnya?? The list goes on but suddenly when Arabs are fighting Arabs the Arab cleric cry for everyone to give their lives, what kind of double standard is that? Pathetic.

If these clerics are serious against jihad then they should have the courage to call Jihad against their currupt rulers that give billions to Israel through America to oppress innocent Palestinians.

What clerics and mulla shave to do with wars and political subjects. This is a pure struggle for democracy in Syria. This is not all a Shia or Sunni issue but a political process and part of the Arab chain of political reformation and quest of democracy.

Asad is a dog who for his own power is letting killing of more than 100 thousands people. Why not he resigns and have an open election in the country. I am sure if he does so he will be a hero in the minds of people and will be elected as a legitimate ruler of the country not the son of a king. The same family is ruling the country for decades.

These mean power hungry people will rule even for centuries but their age do not allow this. Why they do not learn from the fate of Qaddafi and Mubarak.

Allah calls on us the believers to be just, it should be understood that those Scholars in Saudi and other GCC countries calling for Jihad never said its okay for other Muslim countries to be invaded and the only reason that some of them do not speak(because others like Shiekh Arifi has spoken about Afghanistan, Burma, Iraq) because the oppressive saudi regime has made an example of some scholars by throwing them in jail, torturing them, or out right execution.

Now my question is, these scholars want to speak and they aren't able to speak for all countries but being they are able to speak about one country which is extremely important for the situation of Palestine (considering that historically Palestine and Syria are considered one land) if they are able to speak for even one country than why backlash them and question their intentions?

Syria is very important for the region, it has a border with a lot of important countries including occupied Palestine. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) himself has given the numerous blessings and has explained its importance in the last days. Especially considering that Isa (as) is going to descend in Damascus and than go to Al Aqsa.

So what your saying is they are scared in there own country so its ok if they don't speak out - but does it make sense for them to incite war in another country when they cant sort their own country out, its a simple concept bro. I they cant even speak out against Burma and Afghanistan then that just shows how messed up the Saudi system is and how its words from its people should not be trusted or taken seriously.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of brothers refrain from speaking on matters of Jihad/ fighting because of fear from the kuffar and the thalimoon. Does that mean you stop calling for jihad for a land that could bring about a lot of change? Asham is a serious land.

and to the other brother, afwan, Khorosan is taken from the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and our scholars of the past such as Imam Malik. As for your claims of calling me a liar Allah knows best about my words and I don't need to prove it some guy on the internet.

What terrible akhlaq, do you not fear the day Allah will call you upon the words you've said? I'm not pro saudi, actually i can probably underline the problems with as saud and the methodology of Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab in a much more academic way, i'm being just with regards to the scholars who have been studying and calling to Islam while your diapers were being changed.

Last but not least, the Ummah is one Ummah, the Syrians and Palestinians did not start the aggression and the struggle will be a long one to Oust these kuffar if you have a problem with my lack of pashtun/afghan nationalism than die in your rage, I can care less what you perceive is reality.
