The ban was ordered by the government’s Communications Service, head of Tajikstan’s Association of Internet Service Providers, Asomiddin Atoyev, said on Saturday.
The Communications Service did not provide any explanation for the ban and the respective officials were not accessible for comment, Atoyev said.
Observers say the Tajik government has blocked YouTube over a video of the wedding of President Emomali Rakhmon’s son, Rustam, which features the president inebriated, singing and dancing.
Only one of Tajikistan’s six major internet service providers and one of six mobile operators have not complied with the order.
The video was wired on May 18, but the wedding took place in 2007.
The footage has been viewed by almost 60,000 people so far.
This is the third time in less than a year that Tajikistan has blocked YouTube.
The first ban was exercised following reports about the government’s unsuccessful military operation against a warlord in the eastern province of the Gorno-Badakhshan.
The second ban came after footages were uploaded showing opposition activists criticizing Rahmon.
About two million of Tajikistan’s population of eight million are internet user.
