It is beyond me how people can defend the intake of a poisonous intoxicant. No one protests seat belts in a car but when it comes to this intoxicant, people actually have the nerve to defend it because "uhhh its fun"

turkey has a long way to go but this is a step in the right direction, it is easier to secularize a country than it is to turn it to islam. most people are rebellious and a state sanction to endulge in secularist rebellion will lead to muslims becoming the minority.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Bahrain, Dubai, Lebenon, parts of Egypt, much of North Africa, Alcohol is every where. It's a myth muslims dont drink, overall yes they probably drink less than Europeans, but they still do

Is the ban going to stop people from consuming alcohol? Good luck with that!. They also tried that in the US and failed miserably. The badmashan market will make lots of money... now..

Since smoking is not prohibited directly in Islam, I don´t see the effect here.

More people die because of throat and lung cancer in the Islamic world every year than because of pancreatic or lever cancer.

Banning alcohol all along is a good thing.
But it should be enforced on tobacco, too.
            The only constant is change.

What happened after prohibition in the US was the growth of organized. Since Turks already consume alcohol, and are unlikely to stop, existing Turkish mafias and smugglers will benefit from this the most. It remains to be seen if this will curtail future generations from drinking alcohol.
