In another thread, elsewhere, you questioned Pakistan's interpretation/commitment to Islam. Setting aside any personal love/hate for Saudi Arabia, here you appear to raise doubts about an important precept, such as being baligh under the Shariah.

Muslims, for all their problems, have their own legal system. My guess is that the people bothered by this particular issue, are those who are willing to ignore that the victims of crime, might well have entitlements too. Crime and punishment often go hand in hand. Dealing with both is not for the faint-hearted and difficult choices must be made. That is not the 'fault' of Shariah. Note: that victims are also given the choice to lessen some punishments too.

On a personal note, I would argue that before we jump blindly to Shariah or jump blindly away from it, we think with a very cool head. Quoting from the Sun 'newspaper' is, however, grabbing at straws to prove a point.

also I am not criticizing the sharia or the eye for eye punishment. I would support this punishment if applied on proper criminals. Now that fact is this kid was only 14 when he did this crime, that has to be taken in to account, because a 14 year old doesn't think like a 25 or a 30 year old. Also he has already served 10 years in a Saudi prison. Lastly, the method of punishment, is this even Islamic? I never heard of such a thing

Like I said, and even Al Hanif and Manzereh are saying the same thing, that Saudi Arabia is not a proper Islamic state, it never was. The rulings are different there for different people, imagine if a prince did the same crime, would he punished? he wont even go to jail.

All this taken in to account, this is surely an unjust sentence/punishment.

Lasty, about your point about me speaking against pakistani interpretation on Islam. This sentence by Saudis is a perfect example of how muslims misuse Islam.

Especially if the same people ,start with words of islamic brotherhood and deen . We dont need such overlords just as we dont need americans ,brits or others.

Some sense of nationalism would be not bad in this regard. Unfourtently some people will bent over backward doing a salto , if they hear people , who just brush their own egos , talking about islam and brotherhood . Especially foreign arabs and foreigners in general .
