The militant group did not provide further details regarding the incident, and US military officials have not commented on the group’s claim.
Also on Tuesday, Afghan soldiers opened fire on US-led troops in the latest ‘green-on-blue’ attack carried out in the town of Bala Bolouk in the western province of Farah.
The United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the pretext of combating terrorism. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity remains across the country despite the presence of thousands of foreign forces.

Also on Tuesday, Afghan soldiers opened fire on US-led troops in the latest ‘green-on-blue’ attack carried out in the town of Bala Bolouk in the western province of Farah.
The Taliban claimed three Italian troopers were killed and four others wounded in the ‘insider’ attack. Afghan security forces turn their weapons on US-led forces in the so-called insider or green-on-blue attacks.
The Taliban also claimed that three Afghan soldiers involved in the attack joined the militant group following the assault. The United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the pretext of combating terrorism. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity remains across the country despite the presence of thousands of foreign forces.
