This news doesn't fit here where people like shahi kote, khushal, afghan-stone-age, etc. that dream of 72 virgin hoors of jannah room around.

well the quran does speak of life beyond earth.

though, i don't think this is what the announcement is about. didn't something similar happen like this a few years back?
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Beyond this planet, Europa - one of Jupiter's moons, is said to be the most likely place for life in the solar system.

A new experiment seeks to determine how far beneath the icy crust of Jupiter's moon Europa life must hide to be safe from radiation from the giant planet.

^Perhaps humans have more in common with swarming locusts and our consumerist nature means that one day we will be so overpopulated that we will have stripped the Earth bare dry and we will be forced to take the two year flight to Mars to live on the cold harsh surface in in biodomes. Maybe these biospheres will grow to be big cities and humans will venture beyond them and colonise the rest of the planet, excavating resources, engineering biodiversity and slowly transforming the surface to something more habitable.

That said, in 50 million years time, assuming we last that long and our descendents haven't evolved our form to suit a planet with much lower atmospheric pressure, the Martian moon, Phobos with its decreasing orbital distance, will crash onto the surface of the planet, leaving us once again, on the move to some other astral body, more habitable ...

if humans don't get their act together, start using their brains and hearts to create peace and look after each other and the planet we are on, they deserve to be wiped out.
