Ancient Buddha Statue Found In Bamiyan Province

Afghan media reported today that a team lead by Afghan archeologist Zemaryalai Tarzi have found an 18 meter (59.1 foot) long statue of Buddha in Afghanistan’s central province of Bamiyan.
In addition to that, Afghan officials say that a pot, two ancient coins and 3 other small statues were found. These monuments are estimated to be about 2000 years old.
Bamiyan officials from the Information and Culture Department say that there is another giant Buddha (300 meter long) underneath the ground somewhere near the two giant destroyed Buddha statues in Bamiyan.

Isnt this statue the one to be claimed it is made out of pure gold? dude if and when it is found, that is one great discovery =)

Refrain from ruining our culture.

What about our national archive of movies.

The reason why countries like Nepal, Pakistan and etc are jealous of Afghanistan is because Afghanistan has history and culture. Once you take away our archive and statues. You are losing your roots.

Sangr your great great great great great great great great grand father was either a Hindu or a buddhist.

So what? We are Muslims now. And there is no value to those statues. they are going to be worshiped eventually.

Just look how much people care for statues. They are willing to tolerate bombing of human beings and massacre of pashtuns for preservation of ancient statues.

Mullah omar destroyed the statues after UN imposed sanctions on afghanistan and wanted afghans to starve. At the same time over 1 million muslims were sufering from hunger in peshawar in refugee camps. Pakistni government and UN denied any access of food and medication to afghanistan.

and right when people were starving from hunger in afghanistan and my grand father died in a hospital over a silly infection because there were no anti biotics, UN decided to invest millions of dollars on renovation of the statues.

So Mullah omar said, you deny us right to import food and medication while people are starving, and yet you want to invest millions in rebuilding those statues?

So he said, I will blow them up. And so he did. If I was him, I would use more explosives. So no sign of those statues would be left behind.

National archives were robbed and pillaged by northern alliance.

Taliban actually preserved the archive of afghan radio & tv. I know people who worked there.
