Iran Will Attack US Bases in Case of Israeli Strike, Says Hezbollah

Iran could attack US military bases in the Middle East in response to Israeli strikes, the leader of Lebanon's Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah has warned.

In an interview with the Lebanese television station Al Mayadeen, Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the US will be considered responsible if Israel strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities, even if it is not directly involved in the attacks.
"A decision has been taken to respond and the response will be very great. The response will not be just inside the Israeli entity - American bases in the whole region could be Iranian targets," said Nasrallah.
"If Israel targets Iran, America bears responsibility," he added, claiming his information came from official Iranian sources.
Nevertheless Nasrallah appeared sceptical about Israel's intentions of attacking Iran.

"Personally I do not expect the Israeli enemy - at least in the coming months or foreseeable future - [to wage] an attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran," he said.
In August, concerted speculation surrounded Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's intentions to strike against Iran's nuclear programme before the US presidential election on 6 November.
Israel media reported that Netanyahu was seriously considering the possibility of an attack, convinced that President Obama would be forced to back him up for fear of alienating Jewish voters in the forthcoming election.

    Strain
Relations between Obama and Netanyahu became strained last year, after a private conversation between the US president and his then-French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy was accidentally broadcast.
"I can't stand him [Netanyahu]. He's a liar," Sarkozy said.
"You're tired of him -- what about me? I have to deal with him every day," Obama reportedly answered.
Hours before Hezbollah's threats, Israel's biggest-selling newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Washington was secretly negotiating with Tehran to keep the US out of any Israel-Iran war.
The claims have been strongly denied by the White House.
"It's incorrect, completely incorrect. The report is false and we don't talk about hypotheticals," White House spokesman Jay Carney said.
Israel, currently believed to be the only nation to hold nuclear weapons in the Middle East, views Iran's nuclear programme as a threat to its national security and to its very existence.
In August, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad publicly said that the Jewish state was a "cancerous tumour" which will soon be excised.
A month earlier, Iran declared it had the capability to destroy nearby US military bases and strike Israel within minutes of an attack on its soil.
However Tehran says its nuclear development programme is purely designed for peaceful purposes.
The situation in the region remains uncertain also remains uncertain for Hezbollah. Nasrallah admitted in the Al Mayadeen interview that "we don't know what will happen."

Hezbollah: Iran Could Strike US Bases, Troops if Israel Attacks

Hassan Nasrallah said 'a decision has been made' that 'if Israel targets Iran, America bears responsibility.'

Iran would strike US military bases in the Middle East in response to any Israeli strike on its nuclear facilities, the leader of Iranian-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah said on Monday.
“A decision has been taken to respond and the response will be very great,” Hassan Nasrallah said in an interview. ”The response will not be just inside the Israeli entity – American bases in the whole region could be Iranian targets,” he said. “If Israel targets Iran, America bears responsibility.”
The statement came on the same day an Israeli newspaper reported that the Obama administration sent a secret message to Iran via European allies confirming that the US will not back an Israeli strike against Iran so long as Tehran refrains from attacking American interests in the Persian Gulf.
Iran has conventional capabilities that would allow it to target thousands of US troops in the region, in neighboring Afghanistan, in the southern Gulf island Bahrain, and elsewhere. Even with Obama’s alleged deal, this deterrent threat is something Iran will stick to in order to discourage an attack for a nuclear weapons program it doesn’t even have.
A declassified war simulation run by the Pentagon earlier this year forecasted such a “strike would lead to a wider regional war, which could draw in the United States” and would immediately get at least 200 Americans killed in Iran’s retaliation, not to mention heavy Iranian and Israeli casualties.
Nasrallah also said that Hezbollah would attack Israel in retaliation of any preemptive strike on Iran. Even Hezbollah has no chemical weapons, he added, they do have an arsenal that could strike Israel’s nuclear reactors.
The costs of an unprovoked Israeli strike on Iran would be immense for everybody in the region. The fact that it would entirely be a war of choice, not of necessity, is making Israel’s constant warmongering – and the Obama administrations aggressive economic and diplomatic postures – all the more dangerous.

Israel is not concerned about Western interests throughout the region, and never has been.

doubt it. depends on how complicit america is when there is an israeli strike. if it is just an israeli strike then why would iran attack american targets and bring on to themselves a huge response? nasrallah is an idiot.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I doubt Iran will do this. They are relationship with the America is already sour, why cause more conflict?

'Next 50 Days Most Fateful Since Yom Kippur War' – Hanegbi

"We now stand, in my opinion, before the 50 most fateful days in Israel's history, since perhaps the Yom Kippur War, in which there were also several dozen fateful days."
So said the former Head of Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Tzachi Hanegbi, at a closed meeting of Likud activists in Yafo. A recording of his speech reached daily newspaper Makon Rishon's reporter, Ze'ev Kam.
"The prime minister will have to make decisions that will bear a price tag. Allowing Iranian nuclear weapons has a price tag. The practical result will be a nuclear arms race in the entire Middle East," he explained.
"Today, when we say that we understand the danger of the Iranian threat, and understand that a confrontation bears a price, it is because we want to prevent our sons and grandson from paying unbearable prices," he said.
Hanegbi, who left Likud for Kadima and is now back in Likud, called on the activists to support Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and to "allow him quiet" and "strengthen his legitimacy" so that he can take the necessary decisions calmly.
