global study, examining results from 122 countries, has found that people in Britain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and South Africa are among the laziest in the world.
The Lancet journal carried out a new study stating that the UK is one of the laziest countries with the shocking finding that 63.3 percent of Britain’s population is inactive.
Greece was labeled opposite of being the least lazy nation in the world as the warm Mediterranean country was reported by the Daily Mail to have one of the healthiest diets in the world. Its inactive results came to just 15 percent of the population.
Women in countries with social constraints like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were rated with less activity than men. Saudi Arabia ranked the third laziest nation with an inactive population of 68.8 percent.
South Africa with 52.4 percent of an inactive population and Bhutan with 52.3 percent was also among the top 20 laziest countries in the world.
The researchers highlighted that lack of exercise is now encouraging more death and illness as a third of people across the world do not meet standards of minimum activity. This would mean that people need around 2.5 hours of moderate exercise per week.
Moreover, apart from the lack of encouragement by the UK government, the decline of physical activeness in Britain nowadays is caused by excessive alcohol intakes, fast food and constant poor weather conditions, which have resulted in a vast increase of obesity.
