    Consensus reached on renaming NWFP

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms has reached consensus on renaming NWFP as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.

The committee held a crucial meeting in Islamabad in which issue of renaming of NWFP and composition of judicial committee for appointing judges was reviewed.

ANP and PML-N members held a separate consultations meeting mediated by Aftab Ahmed Sherpao.

The members agreed on renaming NWFP as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa which was received by huge applause in the meeting.

PML-Q had some reservations on renaming of NWFP and requested the committee to hold back formal announcement.

The committee on the composition of judicial committee for appointment of judges agreed that seventh member of the Judicial Commission would be former judge of the higher judiciary to be named by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.—DawnNews

what finally? khyber-pakhtunkha is a rediculous name, afridis will be very happy on khyber.

Single pakhtunkhwa name is acceptable. PML-N has on purpose suggested local name of khyber to continue controversy.

I can demand of lakk-pakhtunkhwa or DI khan people may demand gomal-pakhtunkhwa.

Atleast they changed it from NWFP, that was the meaning of the "Finally"

It should have been just Pukhtoonkhwa but this is a good step towards it.

My father and I had a quick talk about it before breakfast. "Not an April Fools is it?" he asked, to which I laughingly added: "No Dad, kho da Khyber worta pesang ke tamba ke, tse wowayu no." He said: "Pe Africa-e-Shamaali ke hum dase num neshta..." And that had me laughing!

              A good sign, I think.
