Afghan suicide bomb is first by a woman; 2 GIs die

Wed Jun 23, 12:58 pm ET
A woman who detonated explosives hidden under her burqa in Afghanistan — killing two U.S. soldiers Monday and injuring more than a dozen bystanders — was the first female suicide bomber in Afghanistan, government officials tell the Wall Street Journal's Maria Abi-Habib and Habib Zahori. All suicide attacks were taboo in Afghanistan until fairly recently.
If more women are recruited into suicide bombing there, that could pose a significant threat to coalition forces, experts say. Under Afghan army policy, male troops are forbidden to search women. Male suicide bombers have tried to take advantage of that policy by dressing in burqas to elude searches. Gen. Stanley McChrystal has formed "female engagement teams" of Marines: women who are able to engage with the half of the Afghan population off-limits to male Marines. And the Afghan army has stepped up efforts to recruit women, though without much success.
The Taliban claimed credit for Monday's attack, saying the bomber was named Bibi Alimi. Locals in Kunar province told the Journal that an Afghan coalition raided Alimi's home and killed two relatives two years ago, prompting her to join the Taliban. House raids are controversial, and Afghan President Hamid Karzai has called for them to end.
Al Qaeda is better known than the Taliban is for recruiting and training women to launch suicide attacks — a tactic Al Qaeda used frequently in Iraq. According to a 2008 U.S. government report quoted in Newsweek, 9 percent of suicide bombers worldwide are women, but 15 percent in Iraq are women. A suicide attack in a Russian subway station that killed almost 40 people in March was perpetrated by two Chechen women, CNN reported.

Is there anything left for me to say?
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Unfortunate and sad without a doubt, BUT it is a war !!!

If it were for me I would not want a single fidaaee attack, but the options with these freedom fighters are limited, and yes I do consider them people defending their own country, like we Afghans did against the British, and the Soviets and countless before them.

And I am also sad for what is happening to the US as well. American values of its founding fathers were values every human being should be proud of, but the You Es today is very different from those ideals.

It is not Pakis !!! It is Pakistanis. Ridicule and abuse wont get you anywhere cheap shot!!

Corerction: not chiefs, and they were talking about the Mujahideen who fought Jihad against the Soviets. Or maybe you would rather have liked being a red Kafir Soviet Marxist singing the praises of Comrade Stalin right now!!! would you have liked that??

Besides!! both the current day Northern Alliance of Hazara Jat and Afghan/Pushtun Mujahideen fought the freedom war against the Soviets, no one made them fight it, they did it with their own accord and are still proud of it. Go and ask them, BUDDY.
