The Saudi regime banned new Bangladeshi labour to Saudi in 2008 when Bangladesh elected an Awami League government in to power. Pakistan and Jamaat e Islami, hate the Awami League so probably told the Saudis to carry out this ban. This is what most western writers say as well.

Because they are brutal and violent and abuse and rape their housemaids, Indonesian, Filipino and Sri Lankan housemaids fled from Saudi houses.

The Saudis then turned towards East Africa, but the more violent east Africans e.g. Ethiopians sometimes ended up killing Saudis in the houses they worked after suffering years of emotional and physical torture.

Now everyone who knows Saudi Arabia and the Saudi regime well, knows that they have a deep hatred for Bangladesh and Bangladeshis. They hate its existence as an independent nation and believe even now it must be subservient to Pakistan and a vassal state of Pakistan.

Their state media vilifies Bangladeshis as criminals even though Pakistanis carry out far more crimes and are far more violent e.g. many of the drug traffickers are Pakistanis. However this is completely ignored by the racist Arab media in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.



Khaled al-Maeena, a well-known anti-Bangladeshi propagandist and employee of the Saudi royal family who runs the Saudi propaganda outlet, the "Saudi Gazette", the Saudi and UAE media are heavily involved in the demonization and racist vilification of Bangladeshis as "criminals".


Now it seems as a last resort the Saudis have turned towards Bangladesh - a country they hate - for supplying house maids.

I really don't know what the Bangladeshi government is thinking of sending our womenfolk to this land of barbarians. Also I feel saddened that we have abandoned solidarity with our fellow Asian neighbours such as Indonesia, the Philippines and Sri Lanka.


The Saudi regime and thugs may threaten our government if they cancel the export of housemaids, but from what I can see most Bangladeshis online believe human dignity is more important than a few riyals.

Bangladesh to send 500,000 maids to Saudi

The government of Bangladesh has announced that it is set to send half a million qualified housemaids to Saudi Arabia once the two countries have finalised an expatriate recruitment agreement.

A source from the Ministry of Labour in Saudi Arabia said that a delegate will travel to the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka to finalise the agreement, link Bangladeshi companies with Saudi recruitment firms and decide the date the recruitment will commence.

The Bangladeshi Consul General Shahid Al-Kareem said that his government had done all it could to ensure it met the Gulf state’s recruitment requirements. He revealed that they put the new Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment in place as well as developing a database featuring two million qualified candidates.

He went on to say that the Saudi Ministry of Labour delegation would be arriving in Dhaka in the near future to discuss job opportunities, work visas, age requirements and salary details. He noted that Bangladesh could offer qualified workers for a variety of jobs including engineers, housemaids, drivers and nurses, adding that there were now 64 training centres in the South Asian country designed specifically for training individuals for these roles abroad.

At present there in excess of 1.2 million Bangladeshi workers living in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi propaganda rag, the "Arab news", with one of its characteristically stupid and incorrect headlines, predicting the end of the Assad regime a few years back.

The truth is in general Bangladeshi workers are generally quiet and compliant and hardworking, however when a few - inevitable in any nation - misbehave the Saudi media go beserk and start vilifying all Bangladeshis as criminals, something which they would not do with the far more troublesome Pakistanis and Indians.

I would urge all people with a conscience, anyone of humanity regardless of religion or race to call the Bangladeshi government not to undermine the efforts of the governments of Indonesia, the Philippines and Sri Lanka in improving the rights of women workers in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other parts of the heavily racist middle east.
