  • 4 NATO service members killed in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Four NATO service members were killed in separate roadside bomb attacks in southern Afghanistan, the alliance said Sunday.
NATO said in a statement that all four deaths occurred Saturday. It provided no other details on the attacks, including the nationalities of the service members.
One is thought to be a British soldier killed Saturday in an explosion in the Nahr-e Saraj region of southern Helmand province. The British Ministry of Defense announced late Saturday that the soldier died while traveling in a vehicle.
Another NATO service member died Friday in an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan. No details have been given on that death.
Their deaths bring to 33 the number of NATO service members killed so far this month in Afghanistan, for a total of 165 this year. A total of 414 members of British forces have died since operations in Afghanistan began more than 10 years ago.
The Afghan Ministry of Interior also announced Sunday that six insurgents were killed Saturday in joint operations in four eastern provinces. Another three were killed when the roadside bombs they were trying to plant detonated in Helmand and Kandahar provinces.
(This version corrects day NATO member was killed in east.)
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

According to NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), at least 3 NATO service members were killed in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday.
ISAF officials following a press release on Sunday announced, “Two International Security Assistance Force service members died following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan today.”
The source further added, “An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan today.”
The source did not disclose further information regarding the exact locations of the incidents and nationalities of the deceased soldiers.
International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) generally do not disclose identities of the NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan, saying, “It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.”
This comes as another four NATO service members were killed following separate roadside bomb explosions in southern regions of the country on Saturday.
At least 169 NATO service members including 120 US troops, 21 British troops and 28 soldiers from the other NATO member countries have been killed in various incidents across Afghanistan since the beginning of 2012.
