you guys swapped a conservative for a liberal. i don't see the cause for celebration here?
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

why is this not good? he said he wants to pull out troops this year.

oh now you are going to say ,"oh ......................"

i don't even know what your first sentence means, and i don't think you know what a pacifist is either. what difference does it make if the french leave this year or next? they are only a few thousand and they aren't even fighting. france just replaced a big conservative with a big liberal, both are crap.

It is a huge deal. Under the ousted Sarkozy, France, one of the major members of the NATO alliance, sped up the withdrawal to 2013. This in itself was not received well by NATO allies. France contributes to NATO's fighting, especially in Kapisa. There are nearly 4000 French forces in Afghanistan, part of a less than 100,000 NATO force. Thats a big deal. It is no coincidence that Australia also decided to withdraw faster than usual.

                Expect more to follow.

Under the new French leader, Hollande, he is withdrawing France from Afghanistan by the end of this yea as in 2012.

The thing that matters to most here is that Hollande is disengaging and withdrawing at a faster rate from Afghanistan. He is also going to withdraw from the EU, a decayed hegemonic order. The EU is breaking apart.

As for his domestic policies, he is a liberal, and Al Hanif maybe knows more about them. Perhaps he will stop the villainization of Muslims and the bans on headscarves.

Right now, breathe in the fresh air.

Its great news for Afghanistan and for France!!

No, he's not going to withdraw from the EU.

It's impossible, no president will do such a thing.

Even the far-right party doesn't approve it.

Yes, the muslims will certainly stop being diabolized in the media because Sarkozy and his ministers never stopped discriminating us for 5 long years but the Socialists are less islamophobic.

I don't think the ban against headscarves in schools will be lifted.

Liberals are even more secular than conservatives, they will probably let it that way.

You have to understand that this was only the presidential election, it will be followed by the legislative elections to elect deputies and the deputies will vote the laws.

But there is no problem about the withdrawal in 2012 since it's the president who decides, not the deputies.

By the way, gay marriage will certainly be legalized.

isn't this the guy who wanted a 75% tax on people earning over a million euros? that is pretty ridiculous.

No offense Al Hanif, but I frankly dont care about France domestic policies. I dont care if gays get to marry there or women get to walk around naked.

Im happy because he is withdrawing from Afghanistan and moving away from NATO with whatever grace he has left, and this can cause the rest to leave our watan.

No more French participation in wars in the Muslim world

I don't care either about French domestic policies.

As long as I can practise my faith freely, it's not a muslim country, I don't care.
