Imran terms Quetta rally a 'record'

    Updated 6 hours ago

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said that withdrawal of military from Siachen should not be unilateral instead it has to be a simultaneous withdrawal of forces by India and Pakistan.

Talking to media at Allama Iqbal International Airport here Sunday, Khan termed PTI Quetta rally a 'record' public meeting.

Imran Khan said PTI held the rally where no other party could dare to do so. During the public meeting Pakistani flag was hoisted and national anthem was sung, he added.

PTI chief said any illegal activity could easily be carried out with money in "Zardari's Pakistan", regretting there was a criminal rule in the country.

He says he is ending Pakistan support for the NATO war (ensuring end of supply routes and drone attacks). People say he is pro-establishment, but if that was the case, he wouldnt be criticizing them about their slavery to the US.

The thing is people need to cook up lies because in reality they dont like him

He has been saying the same stuff for the past 7 years, no gimmicks here.

what makes you think that once he is elected that he will have any control of pakistan when we both know that the country is ruled directly by the army and isi? he will be as helpless as any other civilian elected government leader.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

^that is a very good question, and one I may not be able to fully answer.

However, what I will say that in this last decade the Army/Intelligence/Civilian government have taken a battering, and largely discredited as servile thieves.

This is the very reason why it has been so difficult for them to reopen the NATO transit routes.

The centrists and religious right have played their hand very well, being careful not to oppose the military openly, but doing the same thing by opposing their policies.

Its interesting to see what will happen, but I think the religious political parties have refrained from their usual yelling on the streets, and actually seem to have perfected protesting.

          Its democracy!

the centrists or religious parties don't openly oppose because they are part of the political makeup of the country, and they know who is running the country. if they were to oppose the isi and army, they would be in the same league as the ttp today.

the religious parties have been protesting for decades now. they know their limits. its why kp based parties will rally people to support jihad in afghanistan but will never dare support it in pakistan. the religious leaders are more politicians than religious leaders.

Like I said, they have their own way of exerting pressure, and with their recent protests, they seem to have been largely successful.

Religious parties protesting for decades, really? Where did you ever get that from?

The religious parties have had ups and downs, but they arent something to toy with in Pakistan. They can bring down leaders.

They helped discredit Musharraf and bring him down

You make far too many assumptions. I dont think you have ever been to Pakistan. The religious parties lost their influence once the Soviets were defeated in Afghanistan like you pointed out, and likewise have become popular again due to the ongoing Pak war in FATA, and the NATO war in Afghanistan. Majority of the people, especially the Pashtuns are opposed to the war. Aside from the liberal types, you will not find that many people supporting the war.

In this coming election, a NATO war supporter is not going to win.

I think they are a powerful block within Pakistan as of right now, nothing to just brush aside.

See brother, I know he won't be able to do all that he says.. But if he could even manage to do 10% of what he is saying that will be great. Like we have tried everyone else .. So let's give him a chance this time and check how it turns out?

Let's get robbed by a new person I'll say

will wait and see. The problem though is, I doubt he can do any thing to change ISI's policy, he doesn't have the power to do so

This is my opinion, not an endorsement.

Whats kind of funny is how people attribute his positions to be that of the so-called "establishment." The thing is this so-called Pakistan establishment has been supporting the NATO/Kharzai war, a war that is not possible without Pakistan support.

So, suddenly you have Imran come in and say he is ending this support, and he is now called Pro-Establishment? This man who openly mocked Musharraf when Musharaf was in power, this man who constantly mocks the current "leaders" for their slavery is seen as backed by the Army/Intelligence? The same Army/Intelligence that has supported the NATO war/Kharzai regime in Afghanistan?

Pardon me, but does this make any sense to any of you?

It looks like people want to have the cake and eat it too. People should just be honest and say they are pro-War.

How is it on one hand Imran is built up to be this larger than life evil demonic agent of the "establishment" and in the same breath said to be powerless? Which one is it? Either he is the demonic monster who will end the Pakistani transit routes for the "stable" Kharzai regime (does not represent Afghanistan), or he is the powerless individual who has spent the better half of his career aiming to have his party in power all for feces and giggles???

                    Take you pick.

Here is what I think, and no it is not my endorsement of him, but it is rather why I feel some oppose him. I think people who are pro-war, but wont admit it, need to cook up the whole "Imran is backed by the Army/Intelligence" story in order to give their support of the NATO war/Kharzai regime some justification- the same NATO war/Kharzai regime that is propped up by wait..wait.. Pakistani supply routes. Yeah thats right!! I mean LOL

So because they do not like that Imran keeps saying he is going to end Pakistan support for the NATO war/Kharzai regime, they either say he wants Afghanistan to be Pakistan's 5th province or he wont be able to do anything, and is all talk. Its almost like wishful thinking.

Aside from his playboy past (which frankly most people do not care one whit about), he has no corruption on him. If it was there, it would already be out in print everywhere. Thats huge especially for the corrupt state that is Pakistan!!! Nothing to be brushed aside!

BUT, he is still the demon. Why? Because he plans on ending Pakistan's support for the NATO war/Kharzai regime- thats the truth.

This war has upset alot of pashtuns and this guy is being used by the ISI as a fresh face to bring back the pashtuns into pakistan. Islamabad sold pashtuns for blood money and they are trying to make up for it. This guy is a curse to pashtuns and I have seen his ex wife interviews, I dont know what he saw in her, she talks like an idiot.

does anyone know if this idiot even speaks pashto.

Until recently, his political career was largely considered a joke.

                          He was imprisoned by Musharraf.

He doesnt claim to speak exclusively for Pashtuns, and nor does he claim to be a Pashtun nationalist (that doesnt currently exist), but his campaign to end drone strikes and end Pakistan's support for this brutal and cowardly war that is being waged on both sides is far better for Pashtuns than the current corrupt leaders who happily tout Pakistan continued support for the US/NATO war/Kharzai regime with transit routes. Nothing will undo Pakistan interference in Afghanistan which is only seen in regards to their continued support of the NATO war/Kharzai regime with supply lines and cooperation. That is there for the history books. Nothing will undo Pakistan Army/Intelligence, PPP, ANP, PML-N continued support for the NATO war/Kharzai regime with supply lines- this is Pakistans interfering in internal Afghanistan affaird - nothing else.

His record is what is there to speak.

I make no endorsement of him since it is Pakistan after all, and who knows whether someone means something or not, but so far in regards to him, there is nothing that blemishes his record. He has not called for more war in FATA and Afghanistan, but withdrawal and peace.

He obviously will not be singly responsible for ending the war in Afghanistan, but he would be responsible for ending Pakistan's crucial support for the war- without this support Musharraf gave so willingly, there is no NATO war/ illegal Kharzai regime in Afghanistan.

                          So thats where it is.

There was no Baloch leader in that rally so how can we call it a successful one though he claimed many a times that there are many Baloch leaders about to join PTI.
