I frankly could care less about Pakistani politics in its current stage. As for Fazal, he stood by as Musharraf initiated operation in FATA and Swat.

        Not a word

Yet, as being concerned now, for peace and independence of Afghanistan, the closure of the transit routes is good on the ears. When Imran Khan is the next PM in a year or even earlier, he will close all cooperation in all forms (even those air routes that have been permitted) Thusly, this leads to teh end of the occupation and war.

        Munter fails to woo Fazl?

US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter was unable to budge Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman from his stand on the reopening of the Nato supply route.

The US envoy was reported to have gone to meet the JUI-F chief at his residence to discuss various issues, including matters relating to the parliamentary review of the new terms of engagement with the US, Nato and Isaf.
Sources familiar with the development told Business Recorder that the JUI-F chief, who boycotted the Parliamentary Committee on National Security meetings, remained adamant on his party's stance regarding the reopening of the Nato supply route.

According to sources, the Maulana insisted that the US should expedite the peace talks it had started with Taliban in Qatar as well as Kabul and there was no need for supplying arms to Afghanistan.

Electronic media reports, however, quoted a US embassy statement, which said that the two sides had agreed on improving relations between the two countries. It said that Ambassador Munter told Maulana Fazl said that Washington was ready to negotiate with Pakistan on new foreign policy outlines.

The statement added that they had also agreed on working for regional peace.

Later, JUI-F chief told reporters that the US ambassador had wanted JUI-F's support for the reopening of the Nato supply routes.

He said that he had conveyed to the US envoy that the entire nation was on the same page over the closure of the Nato supply routes in the wake of the air strike on the Salala check post.He said that although there was no specific agenda, he spoke on various matters with the US ambassador, adding that his party would support any initiative for peace, but would resist any move aimed at war in the region.

He said that he had conveyed to the US envoy that Pakistan wanted good ties with the rest of the world but on equitable basis and under set principles.Insisting that Pakistan should be given a clear role in the Afghan reconciliation process, Maulana Fazl said that he had also told the US envoy that drone strikes were fuelling anti-Americanism and promoting extremism in the country.

In response to a question, the JUI-F chief said that there was a lack of co-ordination among opposition parties on various issues, including the resumption of Nato supplies.

the isi and military rule pakistan. civilian elected governments mean nothing, they are for PR purposes. the isi and military got rid of musharaf to take the heat off of them by allowing zadari and his bunch to take power when there were mass support for them in the streets. imran khan will not have any more power than zadari has today if he his elected. whenever an elected official raises his tone against the isi or army, one week later they are backtracking after seeing what the consequences are.

imran khan is a fresh face and good pr, but unless the military and isi are dismantled, he will mean nothing.

if that was the case, then there would not be several top delegations continuously going to Pakistan to request that it be reopened. Northern Distribution Network is too expensive/lengthy/impractical. With public opposition to the reopening of transit routes, an election year, no politician wants to be associated with this at all, except the ones who already have low ratings, and they are irrelevant anyways.

imran is nothing more than an ISI stooge. he will be used to undo the damage that was done by the military in the first place. Selling pashtun blood for money. Imran is going to be used as the pashtun salesman, even though he is more panjabi than pashtun, to fix the damage that has been done to the pashtun populace mentality. he is going to be the one that is going to say that he saved the pashtuns from the corrupt politicians when in reality it was the military that sold the pashtuns. and the stupid pakistanis claim abdur rahman sold them.
