  • Afghan policeman kills 9 sleeping fellow officers

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — An Afghan policeman killed nine of his fellow officers as they lay sleeping in a village in the eastern Paktika province on Friday, police said, blaming the attack on the Taliban.
Provincial police chief Dawlat Khan Zadran said the incident took place in Yayakhil town of Yayakhil district.
Bowal Khan, chief of Yayakhil district, identified the gunman as Asadullah, who goes by one name. He said the gunman was assigned to a small command post when he woke up at 3 a.m. for guard duty. He then used his assault rifle to kill the nine men sleeping inside the post, took their weapons and piled them in a pickup truck.
According to Khan, Asadullah then sped away in the truck.
Khan said the victims included one of his brothers and the commander of the post, identified as Mohammad Ramazan. He said two of the dead were Ramazan's sons.
The motive for the killing was not known, but police in the area blamed the Taliban for the attack. Paktika is a stronghold of the Haqqani network, a Pakistani-based group with ties to the Taliban and al-Qaida. Although they mostly attack U.S.-led coalition forces, they have often carried out assaults and bombings against the Afghan army and police.
"This man is a coward. What he did is part of the Taliban conspiracy," Khan said.
Khan and Zadran said the killer's two brothers were being held for questioning.
The village police is also known as the Afghan Local Police, or ALP. It is a village-level force that provides security in areas where the Afghan army and police cannot.
The ALP is trained by the U.S. troops but commanded and run by the Afghan government and police.
In an unrelated incident, a motorcycle bomb parked by the side of a road exploded on Friday and killed an Afghan police officer and wounded another in Sangin district of southwest Helmand province, police said. They added that another police officer was shot and killed late Thursday outside his house in the capital of Helmand.
NATO said Friday that two of its service members were killed in southern Afghanistan. They said one died in a roadside bomb explosion on Friday and the other one in an insurgent attack that took place Thursday. NATO did not disclose any other details.
So far this year, 88 international troops have been killed in Afghanistan.

    Extremely interesting story.

Is he an infiltrated Mujahideen as the police claims or just a regular soldier who did it out of personal hatred ?

The question is to be asked, because to kill your own brother is definitely not a common thing, even among the so-called "jihadists".

    I think it's a Mujahideen.

I cannot concieve that someone who does a very controversial job for money, in other words a materialist, would kill his own brother, his own blood just like this.

Especially when you know that the typical profile of the ANA soldier is a poor man driven by Nationalistic ideologies (= race, nation above religion).

Someone who considers his race/country a criterion of closeness above religion/ideologies/ideas, wouldn't kill his own blood just for a personal problem. It is very unlikely.

It must come from someone who has a strong and blind faith in what he does.

By the way, if it was made out of passion, out of personal hatred, he would have killed only his brother or he would have mutilated him.

His modus operandi : discretion and escaping after the event doesn't match with the passioniate type of crimes.

Now I am wondering if I have a faith strong enough to kill my own brother if I was in his situation...

It reminds me of the story of Abu Ubaidah :

In the year 624, Abu Ubaidah participated in the first major battle between the Muslims and the Quraysh of Mecca, at the Battle of Badr. In this battle, he was attacked by his father Abdullah ibn al-Jarrah, who was fighting alongside the army of Quraysh. Abu Ubaidah avoided fighting with him but eventually his father succeeded in blocking Abu Ubaidah's path. Abu Ubaidah then attacked him and killed him.

The following verse of the Qur'an was written about this display of character by Abu 'Ubaidah:

You shall not find a people who believe in Allah and the latter day befriending those who act in opposition to Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their (own) fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kinsfolk; these are they into whose hearts He has impressed faith, and whom He has strengthened with an inspiration from Him: and He will cause them to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein; Allah is well-pleased with them and they are well-pleased with Him these are Allah's party: now surely the party of Allah are the successful ones.
    —Qur'an sura 58, Al-Mujadila, ayah 22

Amazing thought. No wonder the Taliban and their sympathizers are so advanced.

How do you plan to defeat America. With sticks and stones?

According to your own hadith Abu Ubaidah tried to avoid killing his father. Here the man jumps on his sleeping brother and kills him. Wheres the same parallel?

But its no wonder the Taliban wrap suicide jackets around their sisters and tell them to blow themselves up

INTERVIEW WITH 13YR OLD GIRL TRAINED BY FAMILY AS SUICIDE BOMBER - YouTube

I have nothing against you. But perhaps this is how the Taliban have developed a reputation for being killers of innocent Muslims and bullies. Wouldn't they have wider support if they were doing anything useful?

All political analysts said America is already defeated a long time ago.

More than 10 years after they still cannot beat the insurgents.

Who are you kidding ? The man was a police officer, he was killing innocent resistants for money, he was not an inoffensive kitten.

I'm glad that there are Pakistanis like you in this forum expressing their opinion. It helped me a lot to understand the root of all evil in this part of the world and who is actually responsible for the bloodshed of Pashtuns.

This is not fighting for matrialistic means but for a noble cause that will even led to the killing of your own family members.

KABUL — Before the Afghan police officer named Asadullah killed eight of his colleagues and one civilian Friday morning, he spent years as a Taliban fighter, targeting men he called infidels and crisscrossing the Pakistani border with teams of insurgents. But his first collaboration with the insurgency was the one his neighbors still find the most egregious: He granted the Taliban permission to kill his father, Ehsanullah.

I think this comment by Afghanistan2010 (Afghanistan0000) is something that should be taken notice of . He clearly is condoning the death of 9 people at the hands of the assassin.

                        While sat in the West.

You know roara, I think its right time for the agencies, police, Anti-terrorism units to start checking the internet for Afghanistan2010 would be-terrorists, I think its time to expose these people out in the open for the public domain, so next time Afghanistan2010 applies for income support or job seekers allowance he will be rejected and hopefully his love and confidence in god will provide him with a house, car, food and employment.

You see, this is what the Taliban do, they are cowards, the same way they abuse little children to blow themselves up while they spare their own children, goes to show how their supporters will be.

The problem with people like Afghanistan2010 is that if they were charged with support for Taliban and other terrorist organisations, they will plead not guilty, and cry "Racism" "Islamophobia" "Discrimination against Muslims" etc.

Its best to ignore such people as we all know his mummy and daddy would slap him right in his face if they found out he wanted to join Taliban.

                        Plus Afghanistan2010

If life was so good under the Taliban, then how come your parents didnt migrate and live under them, maybe you could have had a better upbringing there being a Talib or a member of the Haqqani group.

The Taliban are eradicating the people who protect the citizens and provide law and order, you wait and see, when the police are gone, the soldiers are gone, nothing is left, these Taliban will keep Afghanistan in the dark ages, beg the International community for aid and charties to help them because God doesnt care about Afghanistan, this is exactly what will happen, Arabs like Al Arab will send money through petro dollars to the most fanatical Talib commander or ruler to keep the people and masses under the control of Arab Nationalism i.e Wahabism and Salafism.

Afghans will be treated as crap by Iranians and Pakistanis when they go in large groups as refugees just to save their families from the backwardness of the Taliban, people like Afghanistan2010 will remain in the West raising his children on the expense of the dreaded kaffirs(LOL).

Pashtuns in Pakhtunkhwa especially those from educated areas will resent the presence of Afghans especially those from Taliban regions, this will infact cause division and pitch Pashtun against Pashtuns because majority of Pashtuns dont want Taliban to be their occupiers, they dont want schools to be blown up or their women kidnapped and married off to Arabs and Uzbeks.

This will be the future of the region Unless we get our act together and teach these Jamiet types a good lesson, they call us foreign spies and slaves yet they post pictures of Arab mullahs and worshipping every word they preach.

Najibullah should have done more to inspire the Army to clean society of the future generations that we see supporting far right Islamism.

Najibullah as a man was too soft on these people, he should have brought the wrath of the law in those backward rural areas where women get weighed and sold to 70 year old men(Mullah Khalis).

How is killing 9 people that are sleeping, unable to defend themselves or surrender loyalty to Allah? The man is a psychopath, a man who has no regard for his family has no regard for anyone let alone respect for Islam.

I do not agree with killing unarmed people or civilians or non combatants.

Abu Bakr (rad) was ready to kill his family members in the battle of Badr, his son told him oh my father i had the chance to meet you several times in the battle of badr,Abu Bakr As Siddiq (rad) said : Oh my son if i had one chance to kill you,i would have not missed it because you were fighting Allah and his Messenger(pbuh).

But i can remember you the story of the blind old man who killed a woman who was taking care of him, because she insulted the Messenger of Allah, and they were not just insulting but fighting the people of Islam.

                              And Allah knows best.
