  • Sectarian violence: Jundallah claims responsibility for Kohistan bus attack

PESHAWAR / DI KHAN: Outlawed terrorist group Jundallah has claimed responsibility for an attack a bus on Karakoram Highway in the Kohistan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, which killed 18 people on Tuesday.
Jundallah’s commander Ahmed Marwat, who contacted media persons soon after the attack, claimed responsibility for the assault.
The attack took place when gunmen opened fire on the bus which was en route to Gilgit from Rawalpindi with 39 passengers on board. The bus was owned by Mashaburum private bus service.
Seven armed men stopped two buses and a coaster. The armed men were reported to be in Army uniform. They asked the passengers to get off the bus and shot them after checking their CNICs.
Most of the victims were pilgrims who were going back to their native areas after visiting holy shrines in Iran.
A source in the district administration in Dassu told The Express Tribune that residents of Tangir’s Darkai valley, Commander Abdul Qayyum, Saddar Shariat and Burhan Shariat, sons of Gul Shahzada: Abdul Karim and Abdul Qadeem, sons of Abdul Ghafoor are suspected to be involved in the massacre.
Driver Muhammad Younus of Nagar valley, Najibullah, Suhail Ahmed are among the deceased.
“All the people on board were Shia, and at the moment it looks like they were targeted by armed men from the local Sunni community,” a senior police official had earlier told Reuters.
“Armed men hiding on both sides of the road attacked the bus,” local police chief Mohammad Ilyas said.
“Initial reports said 18 people have died and eight wounded,” he added.
Police officials said the bus came under attack in an area inhabited by two Sunni tribes about 430 km (267 miles) north of Islamabad.
The ambush happened near the town of Harban Nullah. DCO Chilas confirmed the incident.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Shatial hospital.
Local MP Abdul Sattar Khan linked the ambush to the murder of two Sunni Muslims a few days ago in Gilgit.
“The people of the area had vowed they would take revenge,” Khan told AFP by telephone.

While speaking to Express News, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah said that he was in contact with the chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and that investigations were underway.
“We [G-B government] have alerted the army, Frontier Corps and police so that no other incident could take place,” said Shah.
He said that section 144 has been imposed in Gilgit, while schools will remain closed for three days.
Shia-Sunnis remain brothers: KP Information Minister
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, the KPK information Minister said that the incident took place near Harband Nala, some 65 km from Dasu. He said that the bus was on its way from Rawalpindi to Gilgit when it was attacked at around 8:30 am “16 dead bodies have been handed over to the authorities in the area so far” said Mian Iftikhar Hussain.
“People of a particular sect were targeted to create chaos in the area,” the information minister said, reiterating that Shia and Sunni’s were brothers.

They have to face the shariah courts of the islamic emirate and explain this act.
Otherwise they will face inshaAllah persecution.

Nobody has given them free hand in the areas of the Islamic Emirate to carry such acts out, except being attacked.

if the ttp doesn't have to face any court for taking responsibility for dozens of bombings of civilian areas, neither will this group.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Pathetic. Then the courts free militants captured in the field of battle.

These militants need to be slaughtered. The police has to act against them and especially stop the flow of arms in the region. The militancy has now spread to the Northern Areas of Gilgit Baltistan now?

We should take heavy handed action against this brainless Jundallah. They are active in Balochistan too.

The shia sunni voilance in Kurram and northern areas is really depressing.

Killing civilians in such manner is shocking and I hope the people who carried out this and similar acts are skinned alive and burn in deepest part of hell. ameen

Those who bring chaos and those who attack people in a non-occupied country must face the most severe punishment, which is according to Islamic teachings, death.

The Shias of Kurram (Turi and Bangash) are fully supported by the Pakistani Army.

Whenever there is a dispute, helicopter gunships of the Pak Army arrive to give their tribal lashkars air cover.

Pakistan is fueling this sectarian war to undermine a national uprising.

so u mean bombing masjids and open markets were the results of being threatened? lol

i don't know if u are drunk or what, but get that damn head on straight.

here is something i would love to see u try to defend.

KOHAT: The Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) claimed responsibility on Thursday for the killing of a Chinese woman in Peshawar, with the Darra Adamkhel chapter of the agency revealing that the murder was to avenge the atrocities committed against Muslims in China’s Xinjiang province.

The Chinese victim, Hua Jiang, was shot dead in broad daylight in Peshawar’s Jehangirpura Bazaar on Tuesday along with her Pakistani companion Suleman Shams, a student of Government College University, Lahore. The killer had emerged stealthily from the shadows of the narrow streets and vanished immediately after pulling the trigger. The gunman is still at large.

A TTP spokesperson for the Darra Adamkhel unit, Muhammad, made the claim from an unknown location via telephone to reporters in Kohat. This marks the first time such a claim has been made, as Pakistani militants have till now chosen not to speak about the plight of Chinese Muslims.

TTP never claimed responsibility for attacks on markets, rather the puppet government ,the isi terrorists and its security forces attributed these attacks to TTP and the truth behind this is that Pakistan,USA with the help of Blackwater agents is behind this.

I don't defend TTP,i rather stay for the truth here.

TTP has some factions and they do not stay on course,in every faction there are some extremists.

ur excuse for the ttp is the same as the americans when their soldiers commit atrocities. the whole "bad apple" thing is bogus and no one believes it. the americans don't prosecute their criminal soldiers and neither do the taliban.

I defend the truth,im well aware of the attacks targeting anti-taliban laskhars and against soldiers of the apostate state of pakistan in mosques and elsewhere, and according to the way of warefare there is nothing wrong.Because these soldiers or laskhars attack their homes and their places, and they in contrast attack them where they have their weakness.

The mosques were not the initial target but the soldiers and laskhars.

The above article is no proof, the title say : They take responsibility where? , there is no quotation of the spokesperson or any other source.

                            Nothing but another lie.

Further more,im afghan and i have nothing to do with issues of TTP,but when people lie so obviously i have to hold them for making a big deal of a lie.

20 killed as blast hits taxi stand in Pakistan
                              Updated: 2012-01-10 15:25

                              (Xinhua)

                              0
ISLAMABAD - At least 20 people were killed and 40 others injured when a blast hit a taxi stand in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Khyber Agency on Tuesday morning, reported local state-run TV channel PTV.
The local administrator of Jamrud where the blast took place has confirmed the death of 20 people in the bomb attack.
The killed include three paramilitary soldiers, said local media.
At least seven vehicles at the taxi stand have reportedly been destroyed and a nearby fuel station was also partially damaged.
All the injured have been rushed to three hospitals in the neighboring city of Peshawar.
Police have cordoned off the blast site. Initial investigation showed it was a remote-control blast.
One local media quoted unidentified sources as saying that someone exploded an explosive-laden vehicle parked in the taxi stand through a remote control device.
The target of the blast is a group of pro-government peace militiamen who were about to leave in a pickup parked near the taxi stand for Zhakha Khel in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency which borders Afghanistan
Jamrud is a district located to the eastern side of Khyber Agency, which is just some 20 kilometers west of Peshawar.
Both Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani have issued statements condemning the bomb attack.
