U.S. ready to transfer power in Afghanistan to Taliban
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. invasion in Afghanistan and "pacification" of Taliban movement regime as it turned out was only a friendly prank – neither the country nor the movement have been enemies for the United States.
“Taliban in itself is not our enemy. The U.S. president has never said that the Taliban is our enemy only for the reason that this movement threatens our interests," said U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden.
He called events in Afghanistan the "reconciliation process" and is ready to ensure absence of those in the country who would pose a threat to the U.S. and its allies.
"That would be enough, but so far such situation has not been achieved," Biden said.
At that, the U.S. is applying “dual strategy” there - struggle against Al Qaeda and strengthening of government’s position in Kabul.
"The Afghan government should be strong enough to negotiate with the Taliban movement, hold away the movement from group Al Qaeda and other organizations which are against our. At the same time it should be ready to confront Taliban in case of a power seizure attempt," Biden stated.
Although Vice-President’s statements were softened, but not disavowed by the U.S. Presidential Administration, the meaning the Biden’s idea is understandable: after the withdrawal from Afghanistan the U.S. will not object if its place is held by Pakistan through its established movement Taliban. Furnishing such a prospect by a thousand of "democratic" conventions, the U.S. realizes that, as well as after the departure of the Soviet Union, Taliban will easily re-take power in Afghanistan and one should recognize that.
