What is in Turkey so nicer that Syria - I would prefer an Iran or Russia than Turkey or Nato.
Turks are eastern Americans - where tthey apear Natives disapear - but where Iranians and Russians are - strangely Natives remain. They might be both bad - bud their both bad sides even together do not count a quarter of the bad of Turkey or Nato.

I do not hate Turks and no nation - but I strongly dislike Turkish state.
I assure You Armenians are the one who can be lucky, our neigbours had a much worse destiny! And ask any nation where Turks came if they like Turkey - do not
        concentrate on us Armenians.
At least we call Turks "t'urk" , there are other nations who have oficialy a very worse name for Turks, find some Lezgin and ask him what does mean "C'ap"

Turkey is same as America - a country of lost roots and money ideology!
So realy brother - I prefer Iran many many times more.

yes Turks can be very nice. There are good and bad people everywhere..money is a major cause of badness in the world. The other problem is that ordinary people can be easily misled into doing wrong deeds collectively..

              Dear Arevapasht:

You need to see the situation from an Muslim Sunni Arab perspective.

Russia has really nothing to do in the Middle East. It is not their neighbour region or their interest area.

Turkey, although not being Arab, is a neighbour country, shares the same religion (Sunnis) and has a common interest in peace in the region as well. Russia are backing Iran and Assad's Syria just for political and economic reasons.

My point is that Assad is a dictator and as a member of an Shia sect and minority he is rulling an Sunni country. His destiny is already known and that is faillure and ultimately death as Muammar who lost his legimiticy. Shia's consists of 10 percent of the Syrian population only but nevertheless they are the rulling class (they are not even Twelwer Shias but a well-known sect of Shiism) It cannot be that way.

I hope that the Arab League and Turkey (best solution if any foreign involvement will be necessary) can solve the problem and remove Assad if he continues to kill civilians and don't want to step down. Unfortunately he is backed by the Iranian regime who are trying to interfere in the Arab countries to promote their ideology (Shia Islam) and to gain Iranian influence. This can be seen in Southern Lebanon, parts of Syria (although small, mostly the case was the Assad regime), Bahrain and Southern parts of Iraq. That is why they are strongly hated by all Arabs that are non Shia's. 90 percent of all Arabs are Sunnis. I am only talking about the Iranian state not the people.

But this is a complex matter and time will only tell how it unfolds.

I am optimistic about the Arab awakening and the political situation in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt. No dictators and more power to the people (although Egypt is a complicated matter because of the big presence of the military) who in the majority preferes Islam rather than corrupt states.

                1. The American plan for Syria and the wider middle east region is suspected by some to have been the removal of secular nationalist republican regimes e.g. Nasserite Egypt (Mubarak), Baathist Syria (Assad), Gaddafi and so on and their replacement by Muslim Brotherhood control states aligned with Turkey, i.e. Turkey being the dominant nation in the region.

                2. These Brotherhood controlled states would not have been full "Islamist" versions of Iran i.e. supposed theocracy but a diluted "Islamist-lite" state as we see in Turkey, though obviously being somewhat less secular than Turkey with its 90 years of Kemalist rule.

They would have integrated comfortably in to the international capitalist system.

They would also be supportive of radicals and extremists that would target Russia, China and India.

This plan is now materializing in the form of the American controlled "ISIL" outfit which has already threatened China, Russia and even India.

The US cannot use marines to carry out attacks on China, India or Russia but it can use US-controlled proxies such as "Islamist" fighters.

                3. Turkey was to be the new leader of the Muslim world and to be acclaimed as such by the whole world. This would have included things such as being assertive with Muslim countries away from the middle east e.g. Bangladesh.

This is something the American-backed AKP regime of Erdogan has tried to do with their outrageous attacks on Bangladesh over the controversial war crimes trials there. Disagreeing with the manner of these trials is not in itself wrong but it was the arrogant and aggressive manner in which the AKP regime attacked the Bangladeshi government that was shocking.

                4. Since this thread was started 3 years ago the American plan for a Brotherhood-controlled region with Turkey at its helm has collapsed.

Erdogan. The Neo-Ottomanism project of his regime is collapsing.

a: Tunisia, where the Arab Spring started saw voters rejecting the Brotherhood orientated Nahda party.

b: The secular nationalist republican Egyptian army now controls Egypt, kicking out the Brotherhood government of Morsi.

One of the first things it did was to re-open the Assad regime embassy in Egypt.

c: In Syria itself the Russians and the Chinese prevented an American air campaign against Syria.

Syria is now in geo-strategic terms equivalent to a province of Russia or China in terms of its importance for the national security of these two superpowers.

Beijing and Moscow will not allow the Assad government to fall by any means and that will go so far as to consider nuclear war with the US.

                Chinese nuclear missiles.

                5. Turkey has become deeply unpopular in the region hated by these states.

                - Syria
                - Egypt (which now recognizes the Armenian genocide, an act of revenge against the AKP regime).

                - Saudi Arabia, which hates its support for the Brotherhood.
                - UAE, as above.
                - Algeria, as above. Algeria is a strong ally of Syria and Russia.
                - Iran, which has threatened Turkey with war if it attacks Syria.

Turkey campaigned hard to become a UN security council member, a highly coveted position e.g. Japan bribed Bangladesh $6 billion in aid to give up trying to compete for a UN security council member seat for Asian states, and that is with Japan eventually losing its bid.

Turkey lost this campaign partly due to heavy Egyptian and Saudi lobbying of other countries not to vote for them.

                5. Syria itself has made it clear that any all out Turkish war with Syria would mean all out war between the two states and that the Syrians would use other weaponry in their armoury that they are not currently using.

Iran, Russia and China would all come to the support of Syria.

                6. On a separate note, Iraq was on the verge of giving major oil deals to China. To stop this the US activated a US-controlled terrorist organization called "ISIL" to take large parts of Iraq and sabotage Iraqi-Chinese oil deals.

The Syria theatre is part of a much larger geo-political war between Russia+China and the USA.

This war is political, economic, military and media.

The Russians and Chinese are winning the war as they are slowly but steadily ending the petro-dollar and thus American global hegemony.

Russia and China veto anti-Assad resolution in the UN.

Russia and China consider Syria as a red line the USA cannot cross. China which did not even veto anti-Iranian resolutions in the UN, has vetoed all resolutions against Syria.

China has unveiled a sophisticated new stealth fighter jet at an air show, in a show of muscle during a visit by US president Barack Obama for an Asia-Pacific summit.

China unveiled the J-31 fighter jet when Obama was there to see it.

This was at the same time as Russia flew long range bombers close to the US coast in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Sino-Russian partnership (China has the money, Russia has the political strength) to bring the demise of America continues.

Syria is now de facto under the Sino-Russian nuclear, political and military umbrella.
