KABUL (AIP): Terming the traditional Loya Jirga scheduled to be held in Kabul today as illegal, Gulbadin Hekmatyar-led Hezb-e-Islami has said the grand meeting of Afghan elders is aimed at prolonging the stay of foreign forces in Afghanistan. In a statement issued on Tuesday in relation with the long awaited Loya Jirga, Hezb-e-Islami said, “The Kabul Loya Jirga is illegal and its decisions are not acceptable.“They have bent upon to prolong the unjust control of forces imposed on Afghanistan and to achieve their unjust aims. They are humiliating the opinion of Afghan nation on the pretext of democracy and to get the pre-made decisions signed from the people including those in power who cannot be considered as elected representatives of the nation,” the statement said.It said, “Since is beginning, the Loya Jirga is based on selection and every ruler always got their choice of decisions endorsed from it. However, this time it is worst and illegal then ever as it is being organized under such a government which, according to the people, is completely others. The statement said government got the required number of people with those who had western countries nationalities for decades.“Afghans had neither accepted others in the past nor today. Strategic agreement or any other pretext cannot change realties. These brave people are not so ignorant to accept their enemy as guard.”“Like always, Hezb-e-Islami is standing by the nation today, giving respect to the hopes and opinions of the tribes as its duty. This is the reason that it has raised Jihad’s banner against the aggressors and do not allow anyone to usurp Afghans’ right of deciding their fate, the Hezb-e-Islami political affairs directorate said. “Only those people who are real representatives of the tribes can take decision on strategic agreements with foreign countries. Those selected by the rulers are neither the representatives of the nation nor have the right to take any decisions on key issues,” it concluded Several members of Afghan lower house of parliament, Taliban and different political parties have opposed the Loya Jirga and termed it illegal.
