Last time I checked Talban were bad-mouthing him and ruling out any alliance with him. They had waged deadly battle against each other in Baghlan province which ensued for about a week. So where do you get that?

He knows he can never stand a chance becoming a leader if Mulah Omar & Jalaludin Haqqani are around. Therefor he is siding with the Northern Alliance in the hope that they might elect him as their leader.

Haven't you read his 15 point proposition? He accepts the secular constitution Americans made for Afghanistan and he wants a coalition government with northern alliance.
