This piece of advise is coming from a woman who doesn't know her own history, the world history or the history of world religions at large.

While the model of secular democracy is being shoved down everyone's throat by America at the behest of Israel, the Israelis themselves are claiming ownership of Palestine based on Torah i.e. the promised land. Ask any Israeli including government officials about their illegal occupation of Palestine, their answer will be something along the lines of "this is the promised land for the Jews". Where does the concept of "promised land" come from? Torah!

If secular democracy is their way of saving the world then why do the Israelis claim ownership of Palestine based on a religious scripture? The fact is, they are fooling the world and people like DaZahroJaam sister with the whole "keep church and state apart" while they are pursuing theocracy.

Politics without religion is a farce. Tony Blair's spin doctor once said "we don't do God" but when Tony Blair stepped down as prime minister, what was the first thing he declared? His catholic faith! Do you think that all along during his tenure his political decisions were not based on religion at all? And within 24 hours of stepping down as prime minister he become all religious? You kidding yourself!?

Seriously, please learn the facts first before opening that mouth else you will embarrass yourself.

O'faithful hearken thy vezir, for he promises them another Gandamak and for the ancestors of Hari Nalwa a similar fate has been sealed. We shall shake the foundations of their inner sanctums, written in gold and immortal will remain this endeavor of Afghans.

Atheism and politics be mixed, no problem.
Any other system be mixed with politics, no problem.

But when it comes to Islam be mixed with politics then you people have big problem.

But they're just another religious branch. How does that make them traitors?

Some people say Shias are traitors. Some people say Sufis are traitors. What's the big deal? Someone has chosen a particular path for themselves - how is that treason?

I thought "there is no compulsion in religion"? So what are you trying to compel?

It's fair to construe atheism as a religion, and thus the state should not try to propagate atheism.

But you must understand that religion is a form of ethnicity, and that's the reason why it should be kept separate from the state. Otherwise you're giving the state a particular ethnic hue, and people not from that ethnicity will face problems.

That's a first one! How did you come to that then?

So the world of Islam which comprises of roughly 1.6 billion people are deemed as a single ethnic entity? Even if we put the semantics aside, your statement doesn't make sense at all.

There are many different types of ethnicity.

There is linguistic ethnicity, where people identify with their language, and to them that is their ethnic identity. Sometimes they identify more closely with a particular sub-dialect.

There is racial ethnicity, where people identify with their skin colour, and to them that is their ethnic identity.

There is religious ethnicity, where people identify with their religion so much that to them this becomes their ethnic identity. They can even identify with their sub-sect than with the parent religion.

There is the ethnicity of heritage, ethnicity of region or geography.

When you form a group or community around something, you are making it into an ethnicity.

The whole point of what I said in my previous post, was that if the state becomes too closely affiliated with one community over others, then the other communities will face problems, and there will be less harmony and peace.

know it all smart ass, i said it shouldn't be mixed,. not that it isn't. why are you using the torah to prove your point?? since when did you start believing in that? just because an excuse was presented doesn't mean it should be acceptable. anything used to gain power ends up with corruption. religion happens to retain a great amount of that. it's pretty obvious. don't wave your fists at me with all that tony blair and democracy crap.
you may not create an argument on my behalf and then fight it to.

I think Blair's wife Cherie was already a Roman Catholic of Irish descent. So she may have already been religious. Apparently her father was strongly religious.

Perhaps Blair wanted to be the same religion as his wife, but didn't change before, because he knows it would have been politically unpopular. British law requires that the leader not follow any Church outside of England, because that is seen as having a foreign loyalty. And of course the Roman Catholic Church is based in Rome.

True. My argument is that all statesmen are religious, some overtly some covertly.

Ahamdis are really active here in Canada, back in my school all the qurans in the library were Ahmadi qurans, regular canadian folks thought that they were real muslims

But why are they not Muslims? They feel they are. Some say Shia are not real Muslims, some say Sunnis are not real Muslims, some say Sufis are not real Muslims, etc, etc.

They simply have a different interpretation. Why should they be treated any differently than any other citizen?

You say you're in Canada, but do you understand Canadian laws and traditions? Do you understand the principle of respecting all religions, and not showing favor or disfavor to any religion in particular? All religions are equal in the eyes of the law. It's not for the state to say which religion is better or worse, only that people should respect the common laws of the land.

                              What's wrong with that?

i personally dont care what they do privately, but the problem in Canada is they try to mingle in our affairs too much. If you have seen some of their videos on youtube, you can see what their mission is, its basically to impose their belief on other muslims that they are correct and we are wrong and the worse part is they are very secerative and deceptive on how they do this. I have had several friends who have been fooled by them
