Karzai to Select Crown-
Prince: MPs
President Hamid Karzai has recently said that he wants to select a
successor for him when his tenure as the president ends in 2014.
President’s saying about his successor has made new concerns among the
political experts and they accuse Karzai for changing the republican system
to royal.
“The president actually wants to select a crown-prince to keep the power
in his hands after the end of his tenure,” Badakhshan MP Niloofar Ibrahimi
told Wakht News Agency.
She criticized president Karzai for inefficiency in the past ten years as the
president of Afghanistan, saying he has done nothing in his one decade
long incumbency, so how dares he to be a part of power holder?
Political expert, Malek Setiz interviewing Wakht News Agency, said the
president in the republican systems is an ordinary citizen when his tenure
ends and selecting successor or persisting to share the power directly or
indirectly opposes the constitution.
“I don’t know what does the president mean by his words, but I guess he
wants to select a loyal, trustworthy and honest person as his successor,”
Setiz said.
Kabul representative in the parliament, Sayed Ali Kazemi believes that
President Karzai’s decision for selecting successor leads the people towards
negation because it is against democracy and election.
