Kyrgyz Pres. seeks more Kuwait Fund projects Politics 9/22/2011 1:21:00 AM With POL-UN-KUWAIT-SHEIKH NASSER UNITED NATIONS, Sept 21 (KUNA) - The President of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva late Wednesday thanked Kuwait and its Fund for Cooperation for helping her country realize a number of projects and expressed the hope to see more.
In a statement to KUNA following a meeting with H.H. Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who represents his H.H. the Emir to the activities of the General Assembly's 66th session, Otunbayeva said "I have such a good relation with Kuwait. We're looking towards strengthening our bilateral relations between Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan." She said they talked about the Kuwait Fund for Economic Cooperation which did a number of projects in her country and "we are very thankful to Kuwait about this," adding that she would like the Fund to have more projects in her country.
She said the Prime Minister said it is about three hours flight between the two countries, and "unfortunately, I did not realize that it is so close. It warms my heart." She said her country would like to develop educational relations with Kuwait, especially that there is a University that teaches Arabic now because there is an increasing number of people seeking to learn the language.
"This is very important - coming back to our roots," she said, expressing regret that although the distance between the two countries is short, "we don't know much about each other." (end) sj.gb KUNA 220121 Sep 11NNNN http://www.kuna.net.kw/NewsAgenciesP...36&Language=en
