US spy drone crashes in Afghanistan
PressTV - US spy drone crashes in Afghanistan

    Sat Aug 20, 2011 5:32PM GMT
    UPDATE 1SS/JR/HJL

A US spy drone has crashed due to “technical faults” during a reconnaissance mission in eastern Ghazni Province of Afghanistan, NATO says.

A statement released by the media office of the NATO forces confirmed the crash, attributing the incident to technical problems, a Press TV correspondent reported.

Taliban spokesman Zabihollah Mojahed, however, claimed that the militants shot down the unmanned plane.

About three weeks ago, a Chinook helicopter carrying US soldiers crashed in Wardak province near the border with Ghazni killing 31 American troops on board.

The crash, for which Taliban also claimed responsibility, was the deadliest single incident involving American troops since the start of the US invasion of Afghanistan.

The Taliban militants claim they have shot down several aircraft and NATO choppers in different parts of Afghanistan over the past few months.

The militants have proven resilient despite the presence of around 150,000 US-led forces in Afghanistan. They have steadily stepped up their attacks on the US-led forces, inflicting on them heavy casualties and damage.

Since the start of the non-UN-sanctioned US drone operations in Afghanistan, the attacks have claimed many civilian lives both in Afghanistan and in Pakistan's border regions.

An unmanned drone fly in 6000metres and attack it´s target. And because of it´s stealth colour you can not see it or even hear it, even if iut woud fly 100metres over your head! How can Taliban bring it down? Just Taliban propaganda and lies. In Afghanistan and Pakistan america used reapers who fly 15000metres high and attack their targets from there.
