    Kandahar – (July 27)

A doctor in Mirwais Hospital Kandahar has said that the bullet riddled body of Kandahar Mayor Ghulam Haidar Hamidi has been brought to the hospital.

The doctor who requested anonymity told Wakht News Agency Wednesday that they received the bullet poked dead body of Ghulam Haidar Hamidi at the Mirwais Hospital Kandahar moments ago.

Security and government officials have not yet confirmed the killing of the mayor.

It is worth mentioning that high government officials and scores of influential tribal elders including President Kazai’s half brother Ahmad Wali Khan Karzai have fallen victims to the targeted killing. Insurgents have claimed responsibility for most of the killings.

what about the 3 people who were killed in a US airstrike/US raid today?

US-led troops kill more Afghan civilians
PressTV - US-led troops kill more Afghan civilians

          Wed Jul 27, 2011 1:38PM GMT

At least three Afghan civilians have been killed in an attack by US-led foreign forces in troubled northeastern Afghanistan, local authorities say.

The incident happened as US-led French troops opened fire on a vehicle in the Nijrab district of Afghanistan's Kapisa Province, a Press TV correspondent reported on Wednesday.

Najrab District Chief, Sultan Mohammad Safi, said a woman and a child were among the victims.

So far, US-led French troops have remained silent on the shooting which also injured several individuals.

There has recently been a surge in civilian casualties resulting from attacks by US-led foreign troops in Afghanistan. Hundreds of civilians have been killed in US-led airstrikes and ground operations in various parts of Afghanistan over the past few months.

Civilian casualties by US-led foreign forces have also been a major source of friction between Kabul and Washington.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has repeatedly condemned the attacks and called on US-led foreign forces to stop killing civilians.

Afghans have held several angry protests against NATO over the issue of civilian casualties.

The invasion of Afghanistan took place with the official objective of curbing militancy and bringing peace and stability to the country. More than nine years on, however, Afghanistan remains unstable and civilians continue to pay the price.

to this "mayor" or to the children who are being murdered by US airstrikes/night raids?

This man was a supporter of the US war of aggression against the Afghan people.

There is no sympathy for him. A few days ago, 2 children were bulldozed to death on Afghan land. The US-Kabul government is stealing peoples' land and bulldozing their homes.

^What happened to the IRA logo ?!

He was a US citizen - again, WHY are these opportunists going there to
                      rule as
                      American "satraps" - ?
They surely know before they go -

the incredible risk they are taking -
                      but something motivates them -
I suspect it is not love of country
but love of money, power etc.

Does anyone know about this guy's past ?
Was he a restauranteur in Alabama maybe ?

Why would anyone go over there to help suppress resistance
to America's heavy-handed occupation if they were not
                      either economically poor,
                      emotionally miserable or
                      ineffectual career-wise
                      in their life in a
                      Western nation ??

I bet 99% of those who go back to help squash
opposition to the US are relative losers and
looking for a chance at ego aggrandizement.

Perhaps it's a negative type of pride which lies at the
base of some of these willing returnees.

A positive form of pride would be caring about the
independence of a future healthy, wholesome Afghanistan.

These people who collaborate even for the best excuses,
                      are highly suspicious.

I don't feel sorry for this man.

Like you guys have said, what about all the many thousands
symbolically bulldozed over during this horrible decade ??

Some had to endure the same treatment during the previous
                      Soviet ordeal.

Imagine that, 30 plus years of instability and disruption of any
                      normal life for Afghans ?

So no tears shed for this guy

Not that i knew him personally, but i had heard really good things about him. he cared for the city and he cared for the people. I don't know his personal opinion about foreign invasion or what not. but i had heard he did his job honestly, and as much as he could, considering the current situation.
