Tajikistan moves to ban youth from mosques, churches

gulfnews : Tajikistan moves to ban youth from mosques, churches

The bill now goes to President Emomali Rahmon, who backed the legislation and is expected to sign it

Dushnbe: Tajikistan moved a step closer on Thursday to banning children and teens from worshipping in mosques in a bid to curb Islamic fundamentalism, amid criticism from religious leaders.
The upper house of parliament unanimously adopted a "parental responsibility" bill, which would ban those under 18 from praying in churches and mosques and would require them to study in secular schools.
The bill now goes to President Emomali Rahmon, who backed the legislation and is expected to sign it.
"The current law aims to protect interests of the coming generation of Tajikistan," the chairman of the upper chamber of parliament, Makhmadsaid Ubaydullayev, said in a statement.
Authorities in the ex-Soviet state have said the new law is needed to prevent the spread of religious fundamentalism in the overwhelmingly Muslim nation, but religious leaders have condemned it.
"It's a black day for Muslims. Even in Soviet times, such punitive measures and religious persecution did not exist," prominent Muslim theologist Akbar Turadzhonzoda, a former deputy prime minister, said last month after the lower chamber of parliament supported the measure.
"If the state doesn't want to, the people will defend their faith themselves," he has said.
The impoverished state shares a 1,340-kilometre (840-mile) border with Afghanistan.

The secular government of the nation of 7.5 million people has accused religious groups of stoking unrest in a bid to impose Islamic rule.
Rahmon, who has ruled Tajikistan since the early 1990s, called home students from religious schools abroad last autumn, saying the institutions "prepare terrorists".
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I heard things in Uzbekistan are ever worse, i was a watching a documentary on uzbekistan and it was shocking how far away from islam even the regular folks there are. The most popular drink their is vodka, and they drink it day and night, and ofcourse with drinking they also do a lot of other non islamic things. Can't believe this is the country where so many islamic scholars/thinkers came out of in the past

Secularism and democracy is the root cause of the problems. It should be rooted out.

Muhammad (pbuh) and the Rightfully Guided Caliphs and umar ibn abdul aziz. To a lesser extent, the Ottoman Empire until parasitic European imperialists destroyed it..

Sunni Muslim- Sharia Islam is being implemented in Egypt at the populations request.

Turkish prime minister has the vast support of the rural Turkish Muslims to rewrite the Turkish constitution along Sharia lines which he intends to do. On top of that he had pro-secular generals arrested, who were planning a coup.

And the Arab, or shall I say Islamic spring centered around the Friday prayer as a rallying point for anti-government protests. They did not rally at the local McDonalds, and nor did they rally the call to protest after listening to a Britney Spears song.

At some point you need to remove the fat from your eyes to see exactly what is transpiring in the region. The gradual removal of tyrannical dictators who were backed by the US.

I would like to add that this will backfire, and will result in the downfall of the Tajikistan government. In some way, I thank them for doing this for they do not know how stupid they in fact are.

I predict this government will not last too long now.

i like it. if you want muslim children, teach them islam on your own so your child's mind is not injected with trash by random pigs. the way it should have been a very long time ago. people are lazy these days. they think sending their children off to a bunch of bearded men in a mosque will get them rid off their responsibilities.

also, i don't see what the big deal is. you child is not supposed to be left unattended anywhere. why make a mosque or church an exception?? would you want your child to be manipulated in to bombing a mosque??

i am striclty against people who want to teach their children any form of religion from a young age. that is you brainwashing your child in to beliving something they don't have the mental capability of understanding. have faith in yourself. teach them not to lie or be cruel to others. once they reach the proper age, introduce islam to them.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

Then on your logic, Islamic Sharia, irrelevant of the fact that the vast majority of the Muslims in the world seek to implement it, can be forced onto people.

Therefore, despite having the vast support of most Muslims, Islamic Sharia system does not even need it.

As Mehmet II said "One world, one faith."

Time for US intervention is over, but talk about the rise of a new empire, a new revolutionary tide which is sweeping the region, then Mehmet's words now become the natural reciprocal act.

Secular democracy has failed in the US and the West. Capitalism has failed.

                        The world needs to change.

As you promote the taking away of Islam, so others can promote the spread of Islam.

why should u teach ur child islam on ur own when there are institutions to help teach them? u don't rely exclusively on the home to teach a child their abc's and 123's when u know there are educational institutions to provide that kind of education.

how is a child being unattended at a masjid any different than them being unattended at a government school? statistically, a child in tajikistan is more likely to become a member of a communist party than he is a suicide bomber or a "militant"

i agree that children should be taught the religion at an age suitable, though i dont agree with banning the participation of young muslims at mosques. if a tajik can be taught secular sociology and political ideology in their early teens, then why outlaw their rights to a masjid? the tajik authorities are no different than the israelis in this regard.

and lets not pretend that this is for the best of the people. fully indoctrinate the youth until their early adulthood, then allow access to masjids, by then they have no interest in religion. its a soviet tactic. keep the masjids open but **** hammer and sickles into their heads so the masjids become more historical pages of a book than practical entities.

you are a lost case. there is no hope for you. you actually are the example of what i am talking about. islamic sharia should/does not have to be forced on to people. people should want to be muslims not be muslims from the fear of the wrath of idiots who don't have the time to teach people islam but want them to be muslims anyways. you are the reason why people hate islam. you can't force people in to believing in God but you can sure as hell force them in to lying to you about it. there would be no future for a country that promotes lying about God.
and i really don't want to argue with you about anything. go stand in front of a mirror and pleasure yourself by your own company.

because institutes have their own idea of what sharia is and are not trustworthy. also, ABC is not religion.
