  • 42 illegal Afghan immigrants detained

QUETTA: Forty-two Afghan nationals were arrested for having no valid travel documents when stopped and checked by the border security guards in the outskirts of Quetta on Friday. A Frontier Corps (FC) spokesman confirmed that they were all illegal immigrants and had entered the country without valid travel documents. Presumably, they had entered with the intention of travelling to the Iranian border. They were intercepted at the western bypass checkpost of the Frontier Corps, popularly known as the Kharotabad Checkpost while travelling in a passenger bus. The FC spokesman confirmed that they had crossed the Pakistan border from Chaman area and were travelling in a passenger bus when intercepted and caught. The FC personnel handed the Afghan illegal immigrants over to the police so that they could institute legal proceedings against them under the Foreigners’ Act. Under this act, the immigrants face a fine and deportation back to their home country. Tens of thousands of Afghans normally cross the Chaman borders daily and an overwhelming majority of them stay in Pakistan, according to Federal Investigaion Agency (FIA) sources. staff report

Quetta was historically part of the Afghan empires. To use the word immigrants is to just mean that Afghans from other parts moved to Quetta. In the modern sense, they are migrants. However, even before, in historical times, the area was a place of constant migration, mostly for business. There are many Pashtuns there who settled there, besides the native ones, but this is not unusual for most of Afghanistan as movement is the norm.

It is a mostly Pashtun a place, with many Pashtun tribes represented.

Ya it was once part of afghan empire but every human with hosh-o-hawas agrees that it is capital of balochistan province of Pakistan. If you check world map, then you will not find it in Afghanistan.

eh who cares if they are detained ... so what will the pakistani police do? leave them all for 10 ruppees rishwat..

i remember when we were going to pakistan from afghanistan... on our way, we were stopped by about more than 30 posts for talaashi... and we thought oh well now we have to open up all our baggage at all these 30 + posts, only to find out they are stopping us to get money. they were literally begging my father for 10 rupees... lol. so after like 10 check points, my father stopped even asking question about why we were stopped, he would just pull out 10 ruppees note or 20 rupees and keep payin them...

we didn't hav to open our bags at all... lol. fun times to look back to.

If they wanted to cross the Iranian border anyway then why didn't they go through Herat or Farah? Nonetheless, this is the biggest problem in Pakistan. Usually Pukhtoons get away after a few quarrel, but in case of my father's Hazara friend who went to Afghanistan through Pakistan from UK, because his family finally got British visa. He was accused of drug-trafficking (because he didn't want to pay bribe) and even the British embassy was informed about it, who took away his passport and his family's visas. How do these people get away with it, seriously?

i had to pay 1000 rupees in Torkham.

the guy was trying to check our luggage,my father said "these are women clothes, how dare you check these clothes arent you a Pukhtun"?
the guy replied "ma kho pukhtunwali wakhtha de zmekey na weeshteley da"

than i pulled out my wallet and they changed their mind from opening the luggage.at this time there were around 5 of them i took out 500rupees and he was saying "na pe khudey ka domra wakhlema" than i pulled out another 200 hundred and still was willing more ,so gave him a 1000 rupees, they all started running back to their post saying "kar weshoo"

they didnt check our luggage and we wouldnt let them any cost.

they were later all killed by a suicide bomber who asked them if could do rojamathay with them and when people heard about it it seems people of pekhawer didnt care.
