I'm not saying it is their culture, of course no one will tolerate such things as a people, but my point is that they do not regard ghyrat or shame up high on the scale. Such a society who regards shame and ghyrat as meaningless qualities will lead that society to lacking the backbone to defend the helpless such as this old woman.
Why did the other villagers just look on and not do anything to stop it. Why did these men think that this was OK to do. Why did they think that the villagers would stand by while they commit this crime.
