  • Mother Paraded Naked For Son's Fault

    Disgusting!

ISLAMABAD: A woman was forcibly paraded naked through a village after her sons were accused of sleeping with a married neighbour who became pregnant, police said Tuesday.

The incident happened after neighbour Mohammad Salman grew suspicious that the woman’s sons slept with his wife in Neelor Bala village, 100 kilometres north of Islamabad, said police official Akhtar Nawaz. Enraged Salman and his brothers went to confront the suspects, who were identified only as Rashid and Kazim, but they had fled, leaving behind their mother, Nawaz said.

“They dragged her out, tore up her clothes and forced her to walk naked on the street,” the police official said. “No one has come to lodge a formal complaint. Police registered a case themselves after receiving reports from local residents,” he told AFP. "An investigation is underway and two people have been taken into custody for questioning", he said.

Police investigation officer Shabbir Hussain Shah said the statement of the woman, who is aged about 50, had been recorded. Salman, who works in Lahore, believed that one of the brothers had got his wife pregnant while he was away from home, Shah said. Rights for women in Pakistan are bleak. The nation still remains without a domestic violence law, pending objections from a hardline religious party.

if the adultery and fornication charges were found to be true, then by Sharia law, both the man and the woman can be stoned to death. There would have to be a trial, and all that.

^ duh... that is not the point. so what is the point? it's not like the man was robbed off of something he valued much. if he had shame to begin with, he would not have disrespected someone elses mother. how come he didn't start with punishing his own wife first??

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

Its not about backwardness or being living in village. The people in cities do more heinous crimes than the villagers... The villagers do such in years and the city people do such on daily basis but with cleverness.

It says in a BBC article that this happened in KP.

It does say of anything happened to the guys wife? WHy did he take it out on an innocent mother? If the adultery is true, then by Sharia law, both the woman and the man have to be stoned to death.

I first thought this was in Punjab.

near Haripur in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province is in the Hazara district which are a hindiko people not Pashtun.

But the woman was raped, it was not consensual according to the victim. The village elders advised the man to divorce the victim which he did and he and his brothers went to the house to kill the two men but they only found her mother and took their anger out on her.

Pakistani woman villager is forced to 'parade naked'

By M Ilyas Khan BBC News, Islamabad
The incident is rare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - one of Pakistan's most conservative provinces

Police in Pakistan say they have arrested two men for stripping a woman naked and parading her in a village.
One of the offenders had accused the woman's son of having illicit relations with his wife, the police said.
Public dishonouring of women is not uncommon in Pakistan and other parts of South Asia, but the incident is rare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Police said villagers where the incident took place did not try to stop it because the offenders were armed.
Haripur district police chief Mohammad Ali Gandapur told the BBC that a resident of Nilor Bala village had complained to village elders that two men had had sexual relations with his wife.
According to the police, a village council advised the complainant to divorce his wife.
Instead, he and four armed men stormed the house belonging to the mother of one of the men alleged to have slept with his wife in order to kill her son.
Because the son was not there, the men dragged the mother out, stripped her and made her walk through the village, the police said.
They have now registered a case against seven people, but only two have been arrested so far. They say they are looking for other offenders.
Campaigners say achieving justice for women who are abused in Pakistan is difficult.
In 2002, Mukhtar Mai was gang-raped by members of a tribe in the village of Meerwala in Punjab province after her brother was accused of having sexual relations with a local woman.
Ms Mai launched legal proceedings against the alleged offenders. Six men were convicted but five were acquitted on appeal by the Pakistani Supreme Court in April.
